Leadership and Staff

Chief Diversity Officer

The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) Dr. Dwight A. Lucas II serves as the primary administrator to advance mission-driven efforts of diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels of the College through research and analysis to promote academic and inclusive excellence. In doing so, the CDO advances research-based practices and shows opportunities for institutional or organizational change related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The CDO works collaboratively with several divisions, administrators, students, and community members to assess and discuss strengths, opportunities, aspirations, and results of the changing college climate and implemented initiatives. The CDO coordinates diversity-oriented programs and initiatives, including chairing the Access, Equity, and Diversity Advisory Committee, and promotes diversity to support DACC’s inclusion goals, educational goals, and strategic plan.

Why We Do This Work

I do this work because it is critical. It is critical that we hear all students and give them power in making decisions that affect their educational and social experiences. But it is also important that all faculty and staff feel safe enough and have the resources to talk about issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. No matter the background or experience, I want all students, faculty, and staff to know they matter and add value to the College and community. I am passionate about issues of opportunity, access, and equity for historically underrepresented students, faculty, and staff and diversity education for everyone. I do this work, not solely as a position, but as a responsibility.
