Diversity

Diversity

Danville Area Community College aspires to build a diverse environment that welcomes people of different races, ethnicities, genders, ages, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, socioeconomic levels, countries of origin, and intellectual perspectives.

We acknowledge that our mission is best realized when we celebrate and welcome diversity in its complexity. And we embrace the fact that each individual in our community offers special characteristics, experiences, values, and worldviews that contribute to open dialogue and civic engagement. We believe that a diverse community and its many perspectives improve and enhance the employment, educational, and social experiences at DACC.

Our Responsibility

We commit to supporting and challenging students, faculty, and staff by planning and implementing campus-wide experiences and learning about diversity, equity, and inclusion. We serve the campus community through education, training, and campus-wide programs and initiatives.

Our Goal

We aim for a culture that celebrates, affirms, and supports the diversity of students, faculty, and staff. In doing so, we hope to create accessible, equitable, and inclusive social and learning experiences for everyone. We focus our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts on these areas:

  • Engaging all individuals in learning experiences related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Helping underrepresented students, faculty, and staff by promoting institutional and organizational change in access, opportunity, and equity
  • Cultivating an inclusive environment by focusing on the experiences of underrepresented individuals and groups
  • Creating collaborative partnerships between the College and broader communities to advance our diversity, equity, and inclusion goals
  • Responding to the needs of our students, faculty, staff, and community around issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
