If you need more information about Engineering Careers and Engineering Organizations

DACC has developed an Engineering Internship Program in hopes of providing students with “real” engineering experience. It is our hope to equip students with more than academics. We recommend internship experiences because they can affect the students’ future employment and salaries. Internships also help students connect classroom material to real engineering.

In the past, we have partnered with local industries such as Aqua Illinois, Krupp, Timeomatic, Danville Metal Stamping, the City of Danville Engineering, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Fiberteq, Tridan International, J&N Enterprises, and Holmes Brothers, Inc., and American Freight to provide internships.  All internships are paid with salaries ranging from minimum wage.

Current criteria for placement consideration:

  1. Must have at least a C average cumulative GPA.
  2. Must have a least a C in physics/chemistry and mathematics coursework.
  3. Past work and instructor references must be satisfactory.
  4. Consideration is given to years of study and coursework accomplished.
  5. Consideration is given to specialty skills possessed by the student.

All internships are competitive; there is no guarantee for a particular internship or even that a student will be placed.

What can you do to improve your placement?

  1. Enroll in AutoCAD
  2. Enroll in electronics, machining or welding courses.
  3. Enroll in computer software and programming courses.

Applying for a internship

Any student interested in an internship should report to Kathy Sturgeon MM 113 or k.sturgeon@dacc.edu. You will be required to fill out an application and submit an electronic resume. All students will have to undergo a GPA, coursework, and instructor/work reference check.
