Using The Respondus Lockdown Browser

Once the LockDown Browser has been installed you can find it on your desktop for Windows and in the application folder for Mac.

Once you start the LockDown Browser you will be directed to the login page Blackboard, and all you will have to do from there is log into Blackboard and navigate to the exam, just as you would in a regualr browser.

If you try to access the exam with a regular browser then you will see this message indicating that you must instead use LockDown Browser, or the test will ask for a password.

Quiz Requirements

Taking An Exam

Once you have started the exam you will not be able to copy, go to other web sites, access other applications on the computer, or use instant messaging. Once the exam is completed, students are permitted to exit the browser and their computer will return to its normal state.

USING A WEBCAM

Depending on the instructor you may have to use a webcam while taking the test.

The picture below shows the webcam check that Respondus LockDown Browser will go through to take the test with a webcam to make sure your camera is working. Additional steps may be required by your instructor.

Once the test is started a "Recording" icon will appear on the top right of the screen.

When taking the test make sure not to close the exam until you are finished.

EARLY EXIT

If you need to close the exam due to an emergency poping up then you will need to enter a reason for closing the exam early. (Instructors can then view this within the LockDown Browser dashboard.)
