This program is designed to prepare students to provide basic health care in hospitals and nursing homes. The program will provide training experience and educational opportunities that will benefit you and your community.

Step 1

Each applicant must pass the Health Occupations assessment at the pre-determined level. This test will be administered in the Testing Center here on campus or at the Hoopeston Higher Learning Center. Please call 217-443-8708 to schedule an appointment or an appointment may be made online through the DACC website. Tests are generally given on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 am and at 1:00 pm. Can be flexible, if need be. If you wish to take the entrance exam at Hoopeston Higher Learning Center please call 217-283-4171 to schedule an appointment.

  • Eighth grade reading level (score of 236 or higher)
  • Eighth grade Math level (score of 8 or higher)

Step 2

If you have not already done so, apply to Danville Area Community College.

Step 3

An application package must be completed with all supporting materials attached:

  • 2-Step Tuberculosis
  • Physical - (Using form attached to application)
  • Proof of Covid vaccine
  • Negative Drug Test - Drug test must be ordered using the following link. Or you can request the link by emailing nursing@dacc.edu.
All of the applications must be filled out with required attachments or the application is void.

Step 4

Schedule appointment to do a live scan fingerprint check. The cost is approximately $50.

Fingerprint checks must come back clear before starting program.

For your convenience, current Fingerprint Scanning will be completed on campus at the Mary Miller Complex. Dates for Spring 2024 courses are:

December 6, 2023 from 8:30AM to 10:00AM
December 13, 2023 from 8:30AM to 10:00AM
January 8, 2024 from 8:30AM to 10:00AM

All applications must be completed with required supporting materials or the application is incomplete and thus will not be considered for a seat in the program
