Employment of Part-Time Adult Education Personnel

4018.1 Employment of Part-Time Adult Education Personnel

Introduction - Part-time employees in the College's Adult Education Program are paid with grant monies. Accordingly, there is no certainty of continued employment, and the Board does not intend such employees to have any vested right to continued employment by the Board.

Part-Time Employee Definition - Any person employed by the Board to perform services or teach in the College's Adult Education Program, who is not regularly scheduled to work forty (40) or more hours per calendar week shall be considered a part-time employee.

Part-Time Employee Status - Part-time employees in the College's Adult Education Program shall be considered at-will employees of the Board, who may be terminated at any time, with or without cause, and with or without prior notice. Part-time Adult Education employees shall have no right to continued employment by the Board, do not accrue seniority, and are ineligible for tenure.

Part-time employees in the Adult Education Program shall be paid a fee as determined by the Board pursuant to a specially funded temporary contract. Such part-time employees shall be ineligible for any economic fringe benefits including, but not limited to, insurance, paid leave, or vacation.

Exclusion - This policy shall be inapplicable to any existing, full-time, tenured faculty member in the bargaining unit represented by the Danville Area Community College Education Association, IEA-NEA, who the Board elects to temporarily assign to the Adult Education Program in order to provide an adequate load.
