Bereavement Leave

4009 Bereavement Leave

All full-time employees of the College may be granted bereavement leave without loss of pay under the following terms and conditions:

Three Days Leave at Full Pay - For a death within the immediate family. Two additional days may be charged to available sick leave. (Employees may request additional personal business leave, vacation days, or unpaid personal leave of absence.)

One Day Leave at Full Pay - For a death of a near relative or relative by marriage. One additional day may be charged to available sick leave. (Employees may request additional personal business leave, vacation days, or unpaid personal leave of absence.)

The definition of immediate family includes spouse, child, parent, grandparent, sibling, grandchild, parent-in-law, child's spouse, or member of the household. The definition of a near relative includes sister-in-law or brother-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or first cousin.

Employees with a part-time contract may be granted bereavement leave (prorated with the hours worked) as defined above.
