The Adult Education Department at Danville Area Community College will once again offer an amazing opportunity to get both a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma and certifications in the manufacturing field. This is in conjunction with DACC’s Corporate Education and Vermilion County Works.
The program starts April 1 and will run approximately 8-10 weeks (depending how fast work is completed). During the morning, the student will be in HSE class and in the afternoon, they will work on the manufacturing piece. The program will run Mondays through Thursdays from 9AM-3:30PM.
After the student completes the classes, they may qualify for a paid work experience at one of our local manufacturing plants. This is an opportunity to see what it is like to work for that company, show them what type of worker you are, and quite possibly walk away with a good-paying, full-time job with benefits!
To qualify, the student must be 18 years of age or older, and must read at or above a 9th grade reading level (to be determined by testing at DACC). Candidates would be referred to Vermilion County Works to see if they qualify for their program. This process takes a few weeks, so if you know of someone that may be interested please contact DACC Adult Education right away at Prairie Hall, Room 119 or call 217-443-8782.
