To highlight the diverse career opportunities in the STEM areas of enginieering and healthcare, Danville Area Community College will hold both Engineering Day and Health Professions Day on Friday, February 22, from 9 am to 11 am. DACC’s Math, Science, and Health Professions division will host local high school sophomores with hands-on career exploration activities during three workshops of their choice featuring a career pathway in either engineering or health professions.
Engineering Day activities will be comprised of six 20-minute workshops presented by DACC engineering alumni representing local and national companies. Those companies tentatively include Danville Metal Stamping, Flex-n-Gate, Quaker, Chicago Bridge & Iron, Caterpillar, Foth, Brandt, and Lockheed Martin. Alumni presentors will give an overview of their company, review a recent project of their own, and relate their past experiences as DACC engineering students.
Health Professions Day will feature DACC faculty offering 20-minute hands-on workshops in 10 career paths. Career paths featured will include medical assistant, certified nurse assistant (CNA), nursing, health information technology, radiology, sonography, echocardiography, emergency medical technician (EMT), Phlebotomy, and mental health.
