Danville Area Community College (DACC) is offering sophomores from local high school districts an opportunity to explore careers in engineering and health professions. Both Engineering Day and Health Professions Day will be hosted on Friday, February 21, 2020, from 9-11AM. High school students will visit three different workshops, each featuring a different career pathway in either engineering or health professions.
Engineering Day: Six 20-minute workshops will be hosted by DACC faculty or engineering alumni representing various local and national companies. Companies tentatively include Danville Metal Stamping, City of Danville, Gleisner Engineering, and Whiting-Turner Contracting. Presentations will review a recent project for the alumni, an overview of their company, and a review of their experience with DACC engineering.
Health Professions Day: DACC faculty and local health professionals will host 20-minute hands-on workshops in 10 career paths. Career paths featured include medical assistant, CNA, nursing, health information technology, radiology, sonography, chiropractic medicine, surgical/respiratory technology, and mental health.
