Supervisory Skills focuses on building student understanding and skills of successful strategies essential for supervising in a changing organization. Students will learn how their perception, attitude, and managerial philosophy and skills impact their ability to manage people effectively. Key issues and challenges involving supervision will be themes throughout the course.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Practice effective communication skills including written communication in the form of assignments and digital communications such as email and online interactive learning. Also, students will apply effective interpersonal communication strategies to solve problems, and promote a functional workplace environment conducive to positive performance.
- Demonstrate and apply the foundational interpersonal relationship principles and concepts relevant to workplace human relations and managing.
- Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of global influences on workplace interpersonal relationships in business environments, cultural aspects relating to global business practice and identify growing trends in society that impact business.
- Understand the increasing impact of technology to businesses and society. Students will gain experience with internet and mobile communications and information literacy necessary for success.

A point system will be utilized to calculate classroom performance. Checkpoints, projects, case studies, final exam, miscellaneous assignments, and participation points will be assigned. Total points will be determined for the semester. The following percentages will be used to assign grades:
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
60-69% = D
59-below = F
