Community Leader Endows DACC Scholarship

Dr. Wesley Bieritz, retired from a long and distinguished career as a veterinarian in the Danville area, has established a new scholarship with the Danville Area Community College Foundation. His gift of $10,000 creates an endowment that will fund a $500 scholarship annually into perpetuity. The first award will be made for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Danville Area Community College in Conjunction with the Vermilion Vocational Education Delivery system hosted the 7th annual Manufacturing and Technology Day on October 12, 2018 from 9-11 am.

FREE Community Course -- Black Minds Matter

Below is a schedule of a community course that Danville area Community College is hosting during this semester.

The course is offered by Dr. Luke Woods, Professor of Education, San Diego University.

The class is free to attend. Open to students, staff, faculty, and the community. It is non-credit, but informational.

The classes are stand alone classes, so you do not have to attend all sessions. I have attached a schedule of the course offerings.

There are distinguished leaders, in their field, facilitating the classes each week.

October 11 Event to Feature Military Uniform

DANVILLE – DACC Foundation and College officials will gather Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 10 a.m. to rededicate the Garden Gateway on the campus’ Northeast Lawn and celebrate the military accomplishments of the man who funded it, Julius W. Hegeler II.

DACC’s Community Education Classes Oct.-Dec. 2018

Danville Area Community College’s Community Education department offers many classes and trips for Fall 2018 including art & hobbies, business, college preparation, computer classes, cooking, custodial technician training, fitness, floral design, food service, gardening/lawn, genealogy, internet, photography, planning for future, Boomers & Seniors, day trips and lunch & learn series.

DACC Offering CNA Refresher Courses

Danville Area Community College Adult Education is offering Certified Nursing Assistant Skills Refresher Courses.

CNA Refresher Courses are scheduled for:
• Fri., Oct. 12 - 8AM-10AM
• Mon., Oct. 15 - 8AM-10AM
• Tues., Oct. 16 - 8AM-11:30AM

Haas Foundation Gifts $10,000 Grant for DACC Scholarships

DANVILLE – Thanks to the diligent pursuit of DACC Manufacturing Professor Todd Flessner, the Gene Haas Foundation has gifted a $10,000 grant to the Danville Area Community College Foundation for scholarships in Manufacturing.  The gift will fund 10-$1,000 scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year. Application may be made through the DACC Foundation Scholarship program beginning mid-December 2018.

A “First” for DACC: Trustees Appoint Cherry to Board

For the first time in the 72-year-history of Danville Area Community College, an African-American community member will serve as a College Trustee.

During a special Board meeting on Mon., Sept. 10, the Trustees appointed Mrs. Tracy Cherry, Principal at Kenneth D. Bailey Academy, to fill the vacancy left by Tonya Hill’s resignation in August. She has the distinction of being the first African-American to have a place on the Board that oversees DACC.
