DACC Foundation Receives Gift to Fund Mobile App

Dr. Robert Ewbank and his wife Sue are no strangers to the Danville Area Community College Foundation. They have been donors for more than 25 years, establishing their own scholarship 15 years ago. Student support is vital to the couple.

Recently, their support of DACC students took a new turn when they heard about the mobile app that the College plans to purchase to help students navigate online resources.  The Ewbanks donated $20,000 to cover the first year and related expenses to put the mobile app in place, recognizing its value to student success and completion.

DACC Annual Golf Outing

Danville Area Community College has scheduled its Annual Golf Outing for Friday, July 12, 2019, at the Danville Country Club.

 
The Morning Flight registration is from 7-7:50 a.m. with a 8 a.m. shotgun start. The Af-ternoon Flight registration is from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. with a 1:15 p.m. shotgun start.

Each flight will have a maximum of 29 teams.

Lunch buffet served to all golfers from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Appetizers and awards starting around 5:45 p.m.

DACC Holds Nursing Recognition Ceremony

A nursing recognition ceremony will take place Thursday, May 16 at 2:00 PM in the Mary Miller Center Gymnasium at Danville Area Community College. Twenty-nine students will participate in this special ceremony.     

National Signing Day

Vermilion Vocational Education Delivery System (VVEDS) and Danville Area Community College (DACC) are pleased to announce their participation in National Signing Day 2019. National Signing Day was created to celebrate, acknowledge, honor and encourage the thousands of high school seniors dedicated to pursuing a career as a professional in the skilled trades. Taking place on May 8, 2019, this inaugural nationwide program will recognize students at hundreds of SkillsUSA chapter schools across the country.

DACC Offering CNA Refresher Course

Danville Area Community College Adult Education is offering Certified Nursing Assistant Skills Refresher Course on Monday, May 13 from 8AM-4PM.

·         Must be eligible per the IDPH Nurse Aide Registry.

·         Complete the online recertification form at:

DACC Hosts 13th Annual Car Show

The Danville Area Community College Technology Division will host the 13th Annual Open House and Car & Truck Show on Saturday, May 25, 2019, in the Technology Center Parking Lot at DACC.

Registration is from 9AM-11AM for a fee of $10. Trophies at 3PM. The Show is open to all makes and models of cars and trucks.

Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 entries. Additional award categories include:
• Top 25 cars
• Top 20 trucks
• Top 5 youth (16-21)
• DACC Students’ choice

DACC to Hold Free Event on May 7 for Mental Health Awareness Month

Danville Area Community College's Diversity Team is holding a free event for Mental Health Awareness Month. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 7 from 2-5 p.m. in the DACC Bremer Conference Center. There will be agencies from the community speaking about their services on mental health and how they can help anyone who is having mental health issues.

Echoes and Reflections - Teaching the Holocaust, Inspiring the Classroom.

Spotlight On Contemporary Antisemitism

Danville Area Community College, along with some community stakeholders, will be hosting an Echoes and Reflections program on Contemporary Antisemitism on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from Noon-3PM in the Vermilion Hall, Room 306. This programming is free.

The program targets instructors in the classroom and how to bring the topic of the Holocaust to the students and (in the wake of the Pittsburgh tragedy) addressing antisemitism.
