Coach Payne

On July 1, 2016 Miranda Payne was named Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball program at Danville Area Community College after spending the 2015-2016 season as the Assistant Coach. Last year, Payne was involved with overseeing strength & conditioning, practice & game preparations, coordinating team travel and film exchange, guard workouts, and student-athlete academic progress.  In her first year at DACC, Payne coached two MWAC First Team All Conference players, in a 22-8 season, going undefeated at home.

Payne came to Danville after spending 3 years with Division II Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. While at Shippensburg, Payne was involved with practice and game preparations, recruiting and fundraising.  All three years Shippensburg made play-off appearances to the second round. During her time as an assistant coach at Shippensburg, Payne received her Master’s Degree in Organization, Development & Leadership, graduating in May 2015.

Payne graduated in May 2012 from Clarion University with a degree in Sports Management.  She spent two seasons playing at the guard positions for the Golden Eagles under Coach Gie Parsons, appearing in 32 games.

Before Clarion, in 2010, Payne earned an Associate’s Degree in Health, Education, & Leisure from Hagerstown Community College and played two seasons with the Hawks under Coach Marlys Palmer. She earned All-Conference and All-Region accolades as a sophomore where she averaged 18 points and five assists per game.

Born and raised in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Payne became known locally after breaking the Franklin & Fulton County boys’ and girls’ scoring records, as she recorded 2,446 career points at Cumberland Valley Christian School under head coach Jon Shannon. She was a three-time All-Conference performer, MDCC Player of the Year and 2008 Chambersburg Public Opinion Player of the Year. Payne also played volleyball and soccer for the Blazers.

Along with being the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Payne is also working on campus as an Academic Advisor/Student Advocate.

Payne currently resides in Danville, Illinois.

Hannah Ohl, Assistant Coach

Hannah Ohl begins her first year as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Danville Area Community College. Prior to this year Ohl was an assistant coach at Bismarck-Henning High School.

Ohl played for Bismarck-Henning High School from 2005-2009 under Coach Mike Stephens and was named First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Area, and All State Honorable Mention. She went on to play basketball throughout her collegiate career beginning at Parkland College from 2009-2011. In 2009, Ohl helped lead her team to an MWAC Conference Championship, Region 24 Championship, and a 3rd place finish at the National Tournament. Earning honors of MWAC 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All Region, Parkland Female Athlete of the Year, National All-Tournament Team, and was named a 1st Team NJCAA All-American. After Parkland she transferred and continued her basketball career at the NCAA Division I institution, The University of South Carolina Upstate.

In 2013, Ohl graduated from USC Upstate with her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.  In 2016 she completed her Masters of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Sports Studies from Eastern Illinois University.
