International Students at Danville Area Community College

Students from all origins are welcome to study at Danville Area Community College. We are authorized under Federal Law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. An international student is not a U.S. citizen.

To be admitted to DACC as an international student, the following steps must be completed:

  • Complete the equivalent of a high school (secondary) education which normally means the completion of twelve (12) years of schooling and the applicant is at least eighteen (18) years of age;
  • Have a mastery of the English language with a score of 500 or better on the paper-based TOEFL test, a 173 or better on the computer based TOEFL test, or a 61 or better on the Internet based TOEFL;
  • Complete a Preliminary Application for International Students;
  • Provide original official transcripts covering all school work (high school and college) completed with English translations;
  • Provide an affidavit stipulating that adequate finances are available while studying in the United States. (See Tuition & Living Expenses Below)

International Student Information:

  • International students must carry a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours per semester. Since no grants are available to international students, it is essential that students from outside the United States have sufficient funds to cover their expenses while in this country.
  • International students are accepted on the basis of available space in the various educational programs. Students must be aware that some programs have a separate application deadline.
  • Enrollment into courses will be determined by placement assessment scores and personal evaluations (if needed). Students deficient in English language skills will not be accepted.
  • DACC does not have student housing. However, apartments and other housing are available in the Danville Area.

Student & Exchange Visitor Program Fee:

All individuals receiving a SEVIS Form I-20 (as of 9/1/04) is required to pay a $200.00 fee. The purpose of the fee is to cover the costs for the continued operation of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program. The SEVIS fee must be paid and fully processed before the applicant arrives at the consulate for the visa interview.

Tuition & Living Expenses:

Starting with the Summer 2013 semester, the International Student tuition rate will be $190.00 per credit hour. Students are also responsible for course fees (if applicable), textbooks, supplies, and personal living expenses. See below for an academic year:
