The Danville Area Community College Ag Club, with the support of area agricultural organizations, businesses and individuals, takes this opportunity to announce Ag Day 2019. There will be a variety of events available for Ag Day which will be on THURSDAY, APRIL 18 on the DACC campus at the Mary Miller Complex.
A special feature of the day is a barbecue luncheon that will be served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Mary Miller Gym. Carry-out lunches are not available. The luncheon will consist of a BBQ sandwich, potato salad, chips, and milk, pop or water and will be served for 50¢—the price the farmer usually receives for these products after producing and selling them! Additional donations are gladly accepted.
Ag businesses that will have displays include DACC, 4-H/Extension, Illini FS (they are bringing their sprayer simulator), Growmark, WIXYclassic, Vermilion County Farm Bureau, AgDronePro, John Deere – Prototype division, Precision Agrinomics, NRCS, Soil and Water Conservation, FSA, USDA, and FBFM.
Other items of interest during the day are programs that will be focusing on careers and pathways to those careers for students, both high school and current college. These are also open to the public.
At 12:30PM Illinois Ag Director, John Sullivan will be giving the keynote address in the Mary Miller Gym.
Other sessions are from 1:00-1:55PM and include the following topics: policy and government, horticulture, science and technology, Ag-Business and Production Ag.
The public is cordially invited. There is no cost for Ag Day except for the farmer’s price luncheon.
The Ornamental Horticulture/Sustainability program will be holding their annual Plant Sale from 9AM-2PM at the Julius W. Hegeler II Ornamental Horticulture building.
