Scholars Program Requirements
For admission:
To be considered for admission into the DACC Scholars Program, a student
must:

Submit the appropriate completed application form (see links below),

Be interviewed by the Director of Scholars Programs, and
-
*meet at least two of
the following criteria:

Top 20% of his or her graduating class in a college preparatory program;

A cumulative high school GPA of at least 4.50;
-
An ACT composite score of at least 25 or SAT score of at least 1100.

A cumulative GPA of at least 4.50 for 12 or more hours of completed college
level courses;

Written recommendation by 2 DACC instructors, or by
1 instructor and 1 division head;

*Freshmen who are Presidential Scholarship
recipients, or any member in good standing of the Pi Omega Chapter of Phi
Theta Kappa International Honor Society will be accepted into the DACC
Scholars Program upon completion of the appropriate application form.
The additional admission requirements will be waived.

For Retention and Completion:
To stay in and successfully complete the Scholars Program, a Scholar
student must:

Sign a pledge promising to complete all work required by the program for
graduation. (Signing of the application form constitutes the pledge to
complete the program.)

Maintain a cumulative DACC GPA of at least 4.25.

Complete at least 15 credit hours over an academic year.

Participate in at least two Scholars events or activities each semester.

Work on no more than two Scholars Program Projects in any one semester.

Complete at least four Scholars Projects in degree-credit courses of at
least three credit hours each, with at least an "A" or a "B" grade in the
course for which the Project was undertaken. (If a lower grade is received,
Scholars credit will not be awarded for the Scholars Project in that course.)

Determine the nature of the Scholars Project to be completed in a particular
class within the first six weeks of class.

Submit a completed Project Proposal Form to the Director of Scholars Programs
for approval within the first six weeks of class and before beginning
any Scholars Project.

Meet with the instructor on two occasions throughout the semester to
discuss your progress, then complete 2 Project Update forms, the last no
later than 2 weeks before final exams.

Undergo the predetermined Project evaluation with the course instructor
no later than one week prior to the final examination in that course.

Follow-up with the instructor and Director of Scholars Programs to be sure
the instructor has submitted a completed Project Review Form.
