Tuesday, September 30, 2003; 6:30-7:30 P.M   Rm. 181, Mary Miller Center, DACC.   Kat requested for as many members as possible to attend, Jesse to distribute flyers announcing date & time of seminars.

Induction of New Members:
Ceremony: Friday October 17 @ 7PM, group photo’s @ 6PM, it was decided there was not enough time to devise a themed reception, so we are using existing supplies to furnish an "elegant" ceremony & reception. Amber Davids, International President, will be event speaker. Lori Garrett is catering and will need total number attending 2 weeks prior to ceremony. Kat requests all officers to participate in ceremony recital and all members to attend and help with setup throughout the day and clean up. Kat is contacting advisors and presidents of area PTK chapters for possible attendance.

Heartwalk: American Cancer Society:
Saturday, October 18, 2003, registration 9AM, walk begins @ 10AM. Two walk routes: 1/4 mile & 2 mile. Pi Omega will be representing DACC at walk. After lunch break, Amber Davids will present two short seminars. Phi Theta Kappa 101 and Leadership were chosen from a short list as choices for seminars.

PTK, Regional Convention:
Will be held Friday, October 31-Nov 2, 2003, in Rockford, Il. There is a $25 registration fee, registration deadline, September 30, 2003. Those wishing to attend should contact Lori Garrett or Kat Armstrong. DACC van will be leaving campus @ 12:30 PM October, 31, returning approx. 4PM, Nov 2. Kat discussed variety of available events. At this time Lori Garrett reiterated that Pi Omega is an honor society, representing DACC at all functions. Chapter has a no tolerance policy on alcohol and drugs.

October is National Employee Awareness Disabilities Month. It was decided in favor of participating in the larger National Disabilities Week in February rather than the aforementioned.

National Breast Cancer Awareness: Kat discussed the positives of being a program leader with this organization. It was decided Allison and Laurie would coordinate to make informative cards with Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons attached for distribution on campus. Date of distribution to be announced.

Can recycling: Pi Omega is in charge of can recycling on DACC campus. The cans are collected by DACC maintenance and stored. Members are needed to process cans for the recycling center. Concern was expressed over losing this project if cans are not processed soon. Philip is coordinating day and time this may be done.

Scholars Office:  It was suggested by Jesse that the scholars office in the Clock Tower Building be used more frequently. Those members who have studying to do may use the office and provide the benefit of the office being "open" more frequently for inquiries. It was stated the key is available by request at the library desk. Office is across from women’s restroom in main corridor of Clock Tower Building, same hall as library entrance.

Parade:  Jesse also suggested participation in the Georgetown holiday parade in December. A flatbed trailer would need to be secured as a float. Everyone agreed it was a good idea. One possible conflict is if Danville’s holiday parade may be the same day. Jesse to find out.

Lori stressed the importance of meeting Hallmark goals of leadership, service, fellowship and scholarship. Also of possible chapter involvement in other area events. Members are encouraged to suggest any ideas for community involvement to Kat or Lori.

A discussion ensued of possibly having a woolly worm festival, with numerous "fun" activities including the use of Mr. Hoaglands apple press and bumper apple crop as a fund raiser. Lori is checking on the longevity of said woolly worms.

Meeting was adjourned @ 6 PM.

Respectively submitted:
