What is expected of Pi Omega Chapter members?

To maintain active membership, all members are required to:

  • be enrolled at DACC;
  • maintain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.25; and
  • adhere to DACC's student conduct code.

  • How much time will being a member take?

    The time a member devotes to Phi Theta Kappa is a matter of individual choice.  Some Phi Theta Kappa members choose to devote many hours to chapter activities; others elect to not participate at all.  Phi Theta Kappa's Constitution requires only that a member meets the requirements listed above.  No service activities may be required of members, nor can the chapter withhold any benefits due to lack of participation.  Participation is strongly encouraged, but is not required.

    Although Pi Omega Chapter is very active and competes for awards at all levels within the organization, participation is ALWAYS voluntary and is not a requirement of membership. However, active members may enjoy additional privileges in their local chapter membership. Also, these activities look wonderful on resumes, portfolios, and applications for scholarships, jobs, and program admissions.  In addition, through participation, many students build their sense of self-worth and self-confidence, develop leadership skills, make new friends, discover new talents, and have a great sense of pride in feeling that they are giving something back to society and making a difference in their world.  They also have FUN, and realize that individuals CAN make a difference, and that includes YOU!

    Pi Omega's success now and in the future is entirely dependent on active participation.

    Many of our activities and service projects are also open to nonmembers.  If you are interested in any of our upcoming activities, please contact us to see if it is an open event.  Please join us whenever you can.
