should I become a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society?
Membership in Phi
Theta Kappa brings many benefits. Active members have numerous opportunities
to participate in a wide variety of activities to fulfill their own interests,
develop new skills, and contribute to the campus and community. When
applying for a job, a scholarship, or admission into a specific program,
all activities in which you participate can be listed to set you apart
from the other applicants. Regardless of your participation level,
though, the following benefits are available to all members:

Members have access to the Scholars Office
in Clock Tower (contact Lori Garrett,
Director of Scholars Programs, for details).

All members receive
the prestigious Golden Key Membership Pin.

All members receive
the impressive gold-embossed Certificate of Membership, which is a wonderful
addition to your portfolio.

Members may affix the Society’s Gold Diploma
Seal to their two-year college diplomas.

Membership is noted
on your transcript.

Members may wear the
Society’s golden monogrammed Honors Stole during commencement.
All members receive a wallet-size Identification
Card.

Members are eligible
for nomination by DACC for the All-USA Academic Team competition. In addition,
33 states, including Illinois and Indiana, sponsor All-State Academic Team
programs.

All members are automatically
nominated for the prestigious National Dean’s List biographical publication.

Members may submit manuscripts to Nota Bene,
the Society’s honors anthology.

Each member may request
an official letter of recommendation for both scholarships and employment;

Member can receive a permanent Phi
Theta Kappa email address.

Members can request
a Newspaper press release be sent to their local paper to announce their
membership.

their educatoin can access numerous transfer scholarship opportunities

than $32 million in transfer scholarships, provided exclusively to Society
members by more than 530 senior institutions. Members also
have access to ScholarshipTRAK™ search engine with a database of over 8,000
funding sourcescomprised of more than 600,000 individual awards, and selects
those matching the student's profile. It provides each funding source's
eligibility requirements, due dates, number of awards, award amounts, and
contact information.

and resources selected especially to meet your needs. Many of these benefits
