How do I join Pi Omega Chapter and
Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society?

If you would like to apply for membership in the Pi Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, please check the eligibility requirements on our "Membership requirements" page.  If you are not sure if you are eligible, please contact Lori Garrett, Director of Scholars Programs (Lori's contact information appears below).   She will check your eligibility.

Application form:  If you believe you are eligible for membership, you must complete and submit an Application for Membership, which is available from:

Membership fee:  A one-time membership fee of $58 must be paid before full membership is granted.  This fee includes a $38 international fee, a $5 regional fee, and a $15 local chapter fee.  Local fees support the activities of our own chapter.  If you pay by check, please make it payable to DACC.  Payment plans are available, and arrangements may be made so that the fees are not an obstacle to joining.  We want everyone to have access to these fine programs, so please contact Lori for more information on options.

Once you have completed the form and have your payment (or have discussed arrangements directly with Lori), please place them in an envelope and send them to Lori Garrett.  You may do this directly, by mail, or by campus mail, or you may simply ask one of your instructors or personnel in any DACC office to forward it to Lori Garrett.  Please be sure to include your email address and phone number on your application so Lori can notify you when she receives it.

Once your application and fees are received, your application is ready to be processed.   One formal induction ceremony is held each semester and memberships are usually submitted after that event. Applications are typically processed at DACC only once or twice per semester, so there may be a lag between application and full membership.  However, you are welcome at all of our activities as soon as Lori has approved your application.  You will also be invited to participate in our formal induction ceremony that semester, during which time you will receive a Pi Omega certificate, recite the Phi Theta Kappa oath, and sign the membership log.  A reception for new members and their guests follows the ceremony.

Provisional Membership:  Provisional membership may be offered to DACC students who do not yet meet full membership requirements. For provisional membership, a student must have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 or the equivalent on all course work completed in high school. A student must be currently enrolled in college-credit course work at DACC, adhere to the school conduct code, and enjoy full rights of citizenship in his or her country.  Provisional members pay local chapter dues of $10.00 per academic year, but are not required to pay the international and regional induction fees until they are eligible for full membership.  Provisional membership status is allowed only until 12 hours of college credit are completed, at which time the Provisional Member's GPA will be reviewed for full eligibility.

To apply for Provisional Membership, please contact Lori Garrett directly.
