Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs, President of Danville Area Community College, has been elected to the Presidents Academy Executive Board for the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). President Jacobs was selected in a competitive election by the national membership to serve a three-year term of office. The Presidents Academy is an AACC organization dedicated to the professional renewal and recognition of community college CEOs. President Jacobs was selected to represent the Central Region membership.

The AACC represents more than 1,100 associate degree-granting institutions and some 10 million students. Formed in 1920, AACC is a national voice for community colleges.

In 2006, President Jacobs was elected to a three-year term on the AACC Board of Directors by the national membership. In 2008, she was elected to Chair the Board Committee on Audit and Finance for the AACC Board of Directors. At that time she also was named as a member of the AACC Executive Committee, and was chosen as the AACC Board/Council Contact for the Community College Business Officers. The AACC is governed by a 32-member Board of Directors. Of these, 24 are elected by the AACC membership and six are elected by the Board itself.

Dr. Jacobs has been President of Danville Area Community College since 1999. Founded in 1946, Danville Area Community College is an accredited public two-year community college that has been providing higher education opportunities for youth and adults in East Central Illinois for 65 years. The College offers an Associate in Engineering Science (AES) degree, Associate in Science and Arts (ASA) degrees for baccalaureate transfer majors, and Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees in more than 25 career programs. DACC also offers more than 30 career certificates to provide entry-level employment skills in many of these programs.
