Danville Area Community College Head Basketball Coach Mike Carpenter announced Monday that Sophomores Brandon Demmings, Tony Tolliver and Shea Sumpter have signed full-scholarships to continue their education and playing careers at the 4 year level.

During their 2 years at DACC, the Jaguars won 40 games, a Conference title, a Region 24 Championship, were Region 24 Runners-up, and placed 8th at the NJCAA National Tournament.

During his career at DACC, Tolliver, from Indianapolis, Indiana, scored 224 points and ranks 12th on the School’s all-time Field Goal percentage list (51.3%). He signed with Purdue University – Calumet, an NAIA program in Northwest Indiana. Head Coach Dan Voudri, who enters his 5th season at the helm of the Peregrines, expressed his eagerness to work with Tolliver “We’re extremely happy to sign Tony. He’s a great kid, and very good athlete. He comes from an excellent Junior College program and we know he’s been well-coached. He’ll come in here and help our program immediately.”

Sumpter and Demmings have signed with Southern Arkansas University, located in Magnolia, Arkansas. The Mulriders, who compete in the Great American Conference, look to compete for a Championship with the addition of the 2 DACC products, according to Head Coach Andy Sharpe “We wanted to sign winners, and Brandon and Shea were instrumental in DACC success over the past two seasons. Coach Carpenter does a great job getting his players ready to impact the NCAA level. They are both exceptional people and will be the foundation of our program over the next two seasons.”

For his career, Demmings, and Indianapolis native, has all-time ranks at DACC including 14th in points (737), 10th in assists (216), and 16th in rebounds (287). Demmings added “I enjoyed my two seasons at DACC and have no regrets. I thank my coaches for getting me better on and off the court, and I will miss them and my team mates a great deal. “

Sumpter, a Chicago native, is in the Top 10 all-time at DACC in points, rebounds, and Field Goal Percentage and was the 2012 Conference Player of the Year and nominated All-American. He stated “We had a great journey at DACC and I look forward to continuing my playing career and education at SAU. It’s been a dream of mine to play at a University since I was a kid, and I couldn’t have done it without taking my first steps at DACC.”

Head Coach Mike Carpenter has now sent 26 players on to 4 year schools in his 6 seasons as Head Coach and added “These 3 young men have worked extremely hard in the classroom and on the court. We are very proud that they will be continuing at the next level. Isaiah Carter, our 4th Sophomore, has a couple of schools showing interest and will hopefully make his decision soon. These four young men have a lot to be proud of and we wish them nothing but success.”
