EBSCOHost Academic Search Premiere This database provides full text for nearly 4,650 serials, including full text for more than 3,600 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles. Searches can also be set up in a variety of ways to control the date and type of items retrieved.

Expanded Academic ASAP — Another good general database, Expanded Academic (previously known as Infotrac), can be searched at the same time as Opposing Viewpoints or separately. It is especially useful when users are in the process of narrowing down their topics, so that it's subject search technique (where it suggests possible subjects to fit your keywords), can help you think about your project.

American National Biography - The ANB is a collection of more than 18,000 biographical profiles of people who have influenced the culture and history of the United States. It includes cross-references and bibliographies.

Encyclopedia of Philosophy - A new and updated edition of this multivolume set contains more than 2,100 entries -- including more than 450 new articles. The topics included range from Buddhist philosophy to the Holocaust to biomedical ethics. The second edition also features 1,000 biographical entries on major figures in philosophical thought throughout history.

Oxford Reference Online — offers users access to more than 120 titles in Oxford University Press's Companion collection and subject dictionaries, including but not limited to:

Philosophy

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy a searchable online encyclopedia of philosophy that is an ongoing project of the Metaphysics Research Lab at Stanford University. As a work-in-progress, not all entries have yet been written, but those that are included have been prepared by and reviewed by scholars in the field. Entries are also updated, with both original and updated versions available for viewing.

The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy an online encyclopedia of philosophy, similar to the Stanford project, but lacking its scope because it is entirely a volunteer project of love. The entries are composed by people working in the field, but the range of content is more spotty.

Original Philosophical Texts Online free online versions of key philosophical works that are no longer covered by copyright

Philosophy Conference Archive a collection of philosophy papers on a wide array of subject matter from classic subjects and philosophers to such things as sport and how to teach philosophy.

The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe Top 20 Logical Fallacies a quick overview of the most frequent errors in logic. A more detailed guide can be found at The New England Skeptical Society's How to Argue web site, which offers examples of the various fallacies.

Logical Fallacies.info "An encyclopedia of errors of reasoning", this web site provides a thorough rundown of logic problems.

Nel Noddings, The Ethics of Care and Education an introduction to the work of Nel Noddings, this site is part of InFed, the Encyclopedia of Informal Education, a project of a group of educators to furnish "a space for people to explore the theory and practice of informal education and lifelong learning".

Carol Gilligan's In a Different Voice An introduction to Gilligan's groundbreaking text from a psychology instructor at St. Olaf's College. The reading questions may also be useful.

Religion

BBC Religion and Ethics The BBC's site offers an excellent overview of different religious customs and cultures as well as a good overview of continuing and hot-button ethical issues. Links are provided to outside sources of more detailed aspects of particular issues.

Encyclopedia of Religion and Society Online version of an encyclopedia that looks at religion from the particular perspective of its explicitly social role rather than its spirtual one.

The Catholic Encyclopedia The 1917 version of this religious classic, available in full and for free. Entries on all things remotely related to Catholicism.

Association of Religion Data Archives A wealth of information related to religion and religious issues and concerns, ranging from participation and beliefs to positions on particular social issues.

Religion Online Full-text of religious articles by recognized religious scholars.
