You will log into your account to request items from other libraries, renew materials you have checked out, or check on the status of your requests and cancel requests.

Logging In

You can view your I-Share Account from any internet accessible computer. Simply open the catalog and click on the My Account link in the navigation bar at the top. You can access it from either the DACC catalog or the group catalog, I-Share.

You will log in just as you would if you were placing a request. You will need to provide 3 pieces of information:

• Your home library (selecting from a drop-down list)
• Your library bar code
• Your last name

Click on Login.

The Account Page lets you review:

• Your personal information (make sure our information is up to date — you need to inform us about changes in phone number or address separately from notifying the records office)
• The list of materials you have checked out
• Your pending requests

Renewing Library Materials

Renewing the materials you have checked out from one or more of the I-Share libraries is easy. After you have logged in, simply look through your list of Items Checked Out. Check the boxes by those you wish to renew. You can renew DACC materials this way. You MUST renew those borrowed from the other I-Share system libraries in this fashion. The staff at the DACC library cannot renew these items for you.

Click on the Renew Selected Items button.

The system will let you know whether the item was successfully renewed or not.

Checking on the Status of Requests

Following the list of Items Checked Out is Request Information. This section allows users to see where any particular request is in the process.

Users can tell if a request is:

• Outstanding - No action has yet been taken on it
• In process - A library is retrieving or checking on the item or it has moved to the next library in the sequence
• In transit - The item is being shipped
• Available for pickup - You can come to the library to pick it up

Canceling a Request for an Item

From their Request Information, users can cancel a request for an item they no longer want if it is "Outstanding". All they need to do is:

• Check the appropriate box
• Click the cancel button

If you cannot cancel a request for any reason, simply wait until the item has arrived and let us know that you no longer need it. We will be happy to send it back so others can use it.

 

And REMEMBER, if you have trouble with this, or any other stage in the research process, you can ask for Help! Ask your teacher! Ask Librarians! If you need to, just hit the PANIC button!
