Does the Library Have a Fax Machine I Can Use?

  • Yes. Faxes cost $.50/page and a cover sheet is required. (There is no charge for the cover sheet.)

How Do I Use the Wireless Network in the Library?

  • The wireless network in the library is an unsecured network. Please Note: Understand that in providing access to an unsecured network, the College assumes no responsibility for the security of information transmitted over the wireless network.
  • You should be able to connect directly to it using your equipment.
  • The content of the network is not filtered, but users are bound by the DACC Acceptable Use Policy.
  • You will not be able to print or otherwise access the campus network directly.
  • Staff members will not be able to help you configure your equipment or provide technical support for wireless users beyond what would be provided to any other off-campus user. Please note: Wireless network signal strength can vary. The College assumes no responsibility for data loss as a result of a dropped signal.

How Can I Print Out My Paper? Does It Cost Anything?

  • To print from any library computer: direct the print job to the Library Laser Jet printer. Typically this will involve changing the printer selected in the gray print box from One Note to the proper choice.
  • In Microsoft Office 2007, all of the File options, including Print, are found behind the circular logo in the top left corner.
  • Some web pages and images are intended to prohibit printing. If you are having trouble printing something, check Why Can't I Print? or ask the library staff for help.
  • Library users are limited to 30 pages of printing per day..

How Can I Print In Color?

  • Graphics Services will print out projects in color for .50 a page for standard size paper, .75 for 8 1/2 x 14, 1.00 for 11 x 17. Copy must on a flash drive and ready to go and users should be prepared to leave the drive and pick it up later.

How Do I Make Copies? What Do They Cost?

  • There is a photocopier in the main room. The machine prints on various sizes of paper, copies on 2 sides, and enlarges and reduces. It does NOT sort, collate, or staple.
  • The copier makes photocopies for .10 a page. The change box accepts $5 and $1 bills as well as quarters, dimes and nickels.

How Do I Scan Something?

  • Graphics services will scan something for you for a fee, provided that doing so does not violate the College's Copyright Policy.

How Do I Use Microfilm?

  • Microfilm/microfiche readers are located in the basement of the library next to the microfilm collection. A staff member will demonstrate how to operate the equipment.
  • The readers will print copies of pages. There is no charge for these copies for the first 30 pages. After 30, there is a charge of .10 a page.

Does the Library Have a Typewriter I Can Use?

  • No, the library does not have a typewriter available for public use.

How Can I See a Video I Need to Watch for Class? (I Don't Have a VHS Player, etc.)

  • Patrons may take advantage of a viewing and listening room to watch videos that are restricted to In Library Use Only or for which they do not own the proper equipment.
  • Any media used in the room must be checked out even though it is being used exclusively in the library.
  • A staff member will demonstrate how to operate the equipment.
  • Groups of up to three may watch at the same time.

Can I Watch or Listen to My Own Media?

  • Patrons may use CD, VCR and DVD players with their own media after those items have been approved by library staff.
  • Users are strongly encouraged to bring in their own headphones or earbuds for use with library computers, although headphones are available for checkout at the circulation desk. There is a $10.00 charge for unreturned headphones

What Facilities Does the Library Have for Users with Disabilities?

  • Computers in the library enable users with limited vision to increase text size to enhance visibility.
  • A magnifying reader to make print materials more accessible is located immediately next to the elevator on the lower level.
  • Library staff will be glad to retrieve books, videos or periodicals for users with limited mobility or provide other research assistance as needed.
