Computer lab rules

  1. Students must be prepared to show Danville Area Community College student ID and photo ID (Driver's License) when requested by Lab Monitor, Danville Area Community College Security or other Danville Area Community College staff.
  2. Eating and drinking are strictly prohibited in computer labs at all times.
  3. NO SMOKING! Smoking is not allowed in any DACC building. This is a campus policy adopted in August 1998.
  4. Do not place books or personal belongings on any printer, monitor, or computer equipment. This can interfere with hardware operation and/or inhibit proper cooling functions for the equipment.
  5. Students are responsible for cleaning up any area they use-this includes discarding scrap paper or printouts in their proper recycling or trash receptacle.
  6. The computer lab is a study and learning environment. Please be considerate of other students' rights by being quiet.
  7. Children are not allowed in the computer lab at any time.
  8. Loading or installation of any software/programs/games on hard drive is prohibited. In addition, any alteration of system settings or configuration is prohibited.
  9. The display or transmission of threatening, obscene, or harassing materials is prohibited.
  10. Students must deactivate cell phones and electronic pagers while using the computer lab.
  11. Students must sign in and out when sheets are provided in the computer labs.
  12. The connection of outside equipment to DACC computer equipment is prohibited unless specific authorization is granted. Exception: USB solid-state storage devices (generally known as USB "drives") are allowed. Notes:
    • DACC cannot guarantee that all USB "drives" will work with all DACC lab computers, as some such devices may require special drivers. However, most should work in most labs without any additional drivers.
    • DACC is not responsible for damage to USB "drives", or data loss on such devices.
  13. Students must limit their printing of documents to less than 15 pages unless authorization is granted from DACC staff.
