International Student Club Meeting Minutes

OCTOBER 2005

Minutes (10/05/05)

Attendance:  Selcuk, Mitsuru, Isioma, Rousseau, John, Yani, Natalia, Dulguun, Dr. Hantz

  1. Introductions were made.
     

  2. Chicago trip.  Tuesday October 11.

    1. We're leaving from Clock Tower at 7:30am, so don't be late.

    2. Possible destinations include Sears Tower, Navy Pier, Nike Village, NBC Studios, 14th St. shopping.

    3. Need to decide what to do BEFORE we leave.

    4. Going are Natalia, Mitsuru, Isioma, Rousseau, Dulguun, Yani.  Anybody else?
       

  3. Meeting times set for this semester.  Every Wednesday from 10:30-11:00 in the International Center.
     

  4. Next Event.  Silent Auction of the items sent to Yani from home.

    1. Thursday, October 13, from 10:30-11:30.

    2. Talked about having Turkish coffee.  My stock is perhaps not enough, but maybe if you bid on an item you are entitled to a cup of Turkish coffee?  Does that sound like an idea?  Feedback wanted.
       

  5. Radio appearance scheduled today from 5:30-6:00.  We'll meet in Clock Tower and drive over together.
     

  6. Special thanks to Selcuk for coming to the meeting during Ramadan.  Though he appeared very tired, and maybe a little too thin, he nontheless came and stayed.

Notes:

  1. Radio appearance was cancelled as station broadcast baseball playoff game.

  2. The TV, VCR, and DVD player has arrived to the IC.  Please make use of them.  There is a video on the shelf behind the desk of the Ethnic Food Fiesta from Spring 05.  Take a look when you get a chance; it's about 3 1/2 minutes long.

  3. I think a new feature of our meetings will be a "recruitment" update to let all of you know what's going on in bringing new international students to DACC.

  4. If you haven't had time yet, check out the new IC website.

    1. Who would like to have their picture on the IC website and a brief bio (name, major, interests, that sort of thing and a link to your own home page?)  Let me know.

  2. Radio interview cancelled due to broadcast of playoff games
