Here Are Answers To Some Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply? You can apply to DACC by requesting an application from the International Center (e-mail chantz@dacc.edu) or go to http://www.dacc.edu/depts/stuserv/ar/pre-app.html and downloading the pre-application and the application form, found at http://www.dacc.edu/depts/stuserv/ar/application-p3.html

How do I get a visa? After filling out the pre-application and application forms and gaining acceptance to DACC, the College can then issue an I-20. Present the I-20 to the nearest US Consulate in support of a visa application. The Consulate will issue the visa allowing you to enter into the United States.

How long can I stay? Typically visas cover a specific and limited time sufficient to complete your studies. Some visa types are limited to a maximum of one year, with visa renewals required in order to continue to stay in the United States. DACC assists international students throughout the entire process.

Who finds housing for me? The International Center coordinates housing, with the help of many other campus offices and the community.

How do I get to and from the airport? The International Center would be very pleased to transport you from the airport and to the airport.

Am I eligible for financial aid? Aid is restricted because of your international status, but help may be available through student worker program and other forms of aid. Please go to http://www.dacc.edu/depts/foundation for further information.

Can I work on campus? Yes, you can work up to 20 hours per week on campus your first year at DACC, and up to 20 hours per week during your second year. Though limited employment opportunities exist under our student worker program, well over half of DACC's international students have campus jobs.

Are there dining facilities on campus? Yes, you can purchase quality breakfast and lunch at our on-campus dining facility at reasonable cost.

Will I be able to cook where I live? Apartments come with their own kitchen, a living room, and one or more bedrooms.

If I am interested in academic or sports clubs, whom should I talk to? Student Services maintains a current list of student clubs and activities. You can find a list of them at these web addresses: http://www.dacc.edu/catalog/activities.html and http://www.dacc.edu/catalog/extra-curricular.html.

Can I take some Online Internet classes before I get to DACC? You can get the same high quality education and earn credits towards your graduation and never leave home. Save time and money by taking online courses. For a listing of online courses, visit http://www.dacc.edu/online.

Will somebody help me select my classes? Unique to DACC is a corps of professional full-time academic counselors available anytime.

Can I improve my English skills at DACC? DACC provides ESL instruction for students who need this service.

How safe is your campus and community? DACC is located in a rural area of Illinois, and has a very low crime rate.

Will the credits I earn at DACC transfer any place else? The Illinois Articulation Initiative guarantees that designated courses taken at community colleges will transfer in their entirety to Illinois' four-year colleges and universities.

Can my spouse and or children come with me? Your family is welcomed in Danville. However, the United States Government, not DACC, makes visa decisions.
