What's your major?
What is a major? Your education major is the field of study that you plan
to specialize in. Some examples of majors include: Accounting, Criminal
Justice, Elementary Education, Manufacturing Engineering Technology,
Nursing, etc.
Your major is based upon your career goal. What type of career are you
interested in? The DACC Career Services Office can help you identify
careers that would fit your skills and needs. They can also give you
information on various types of careers. Visit them in Lincoln Hall, call
them at (217) 443-8597, or visit their webpages at (http://www.dacc.edu/career).
Things to think about:
- Where do you want to work? Do you want to stay in the local area...go
to a bigger city....go somewhere warm?
- Do you want an 8:00 am - 5:00 pm job or do you mind working on
weekends?
- What type of salary is necessary to live the life you want?
- How much training/education is required for the career(s) you are
interested in?
- Do you know what an average day (of the job you are interested in)
consists of?
Remember...It is important to like what you do!
