Summer 2010 Policies and
Procedure for Crossover Payment Periods Beginning
with the 2009-10 Award Year the Department of Education
authorized Year-Round Pell awarding which allowed eligible students to
receive
more than 100% of their scheduled Award Year Pell amount if they met
certain
additional conditions. DACC
awarded Year-Round Pell beginning with the Summer 2009
semester. Eligible students who had a valid verified 2009/10 ISIR on
file and
met all other program conditions were awarded and disbursed Pell. The
Final regulations for the Year-Round Pell program have
been issued and will be in effect by July 1, 2010. One of the
stipulations is
that all schools must have a written policy as to how they are going to
award
Pell for the Crossover period for Summer 2010. The
DACC financial Aid office has decided to award Pell
grants for summer 2010 on a student-by-student basis. The
history at DACC has shown that a majority of current
students do not have their “new” award year ISIR submitted or have not
completed verification by the date summer bills are due. Because of
this, for
the students who have reached the 100% mark of their maximum Pell award
and are enrolled in at least half-time
status and in a program of study that
is longer than one academic year Pell will be awarded from their
2009/10 (valid
and verified) ISIR that is on file. If
a student (current or new for summer 2010) does not have a
2009/10 ISIR on file that has been verified and valid but has a 2010/11
ISIR on
file that has been verified and valid and indicates Pell eligibility
this ISIR
will be used to award for Summer 2010. The student will not be required
to be
enrolled at least half-time. The
Acceleration rule does not apply for this cross-over
Summer 2010 policy and therefore will not be monitored. The
2010/11 Year-Round Pell regulations will apply to any
students awarded from the 2010/11 ISIR award year. DACC will have in place policies and
procedures to monitor Valid and Verified ISIRs on file for maximum Pell award
consideration, acceleration of program measured by successfully
completed
earned credit hours and enrolled in programs greater than one academic
year for
any student award above 100% of their scheduled Pell award. |
