Assessment Center Guidelines - Faculty

  1. Please notify your students that they must schedule an appointment to take an exam. They should call the Assessment Center at 443-8708 at least two days in advance of the time they wish to take their exam. Because we schedule a variety of other assessments with other schools, it is in the student’s best interest to call as soon as possible. Available spaces and times fill up quickly, especially during mid-term/finals week. If there are any unexpected situations with a student, please give us a call and we will try to accommodate them. When scheduling a late afternoon or evening appointment, please consider the Center’s scheduled hours. Be sure to allow enough time to finish the test before the Center closes for the day.

  2. Please inform your students that they will be required to show a current picture ID at the time they take each exam. We will remind them of this when they call to schedule an appointment. Students are also required to sign in and sign out when they come to take an exam. Students should know or have their student ID number when they call to schedule an appointment.

  3. Students will be required to leave books, bookbags, coats, etc., in a designated areas, so please specify on the Faculty Checklist if students are allowed to use calculators, books, dictionaries, etc. Please note that the Assessment Center can not be responsible for items that are lost or stolen. All items are in view of the student or at their feet.

  4. Due to limited seating and the controlled environment of the testing area, students who are testing are the only people allowed in the Assessment Center during an exam. Students will not be allowed to bring children, family members or friends with them while they test. No food or drinks are allowed in the computer labs.

  5. All testing areas and rooms are monitored by camera surveillance and Assessment Center staff constantly. Students will not be allowed to have cell phones or any other electronic devices in the Assessment Center. Students who violate standards of academic integrity will have their test and any books, notes or other material immediately confiscated and notification of the incident will be made as soon as possible to the instructor and in writing to the Director of Student Support/Student Conduct.

  6. Please have exams and any additional materials (such as: scan-trons, evaluation forms) for each student in the Assessment Center the day before the first day the exam is scheduled to be given. Please include a class list or put the name of each student on a test if possible. All exams will be stored in a locked file in a locked room from the time we receive them until they are returned or picked up by you. All tests requiring handwritten work will given paper from the assessment center with my initials.

  7. Please complete a copy of the Checklist (enclosed) for each test and attach it to the test (single or group tests) when you send test/s to the office. We need to know start and end dates and the time allowed for the test. These instructions will be followed unless otherwise notified by instructor. Please call or send changes by e-mail. We will only use the instructions on the checklist, unless notified by you.

  8. We will return all of the exams for each course at the end of the arranged testing days or when all of the students for the course have completed the exam. Please be sure to indicate how you would like to have the completed tests returned to you (campus mail or pick up). If you want your test sent by campus mail it must be indicated on the faculty checklist. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.
