International Students at Danville Area Community College

Students from all origins are welcome to study at Danville Area Community College. We are authorized under Federal Law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. An international student is not a U.S. citizen.

To be admitted to DACC as an international student, the following steps must be completed:

  1. Complete the equivalent of a high school (secondary) education which normally means the completion of twelve (12) years of schooling and the applicant is at least eighteen (18) years of age;
  2. Have a mastery of the English language with a score of 500 or better on the paper-based TOEFL test or a 173 on the computer based TOEFL test;
  3. Complete a Preliminary Application for International Students;
  4. Provide official transcripts covering all school work (high school and college) completed with English translations;
  5. Provide an affidavit stipulating that adequate finances are available while studying in the United States. (See Tuition & Living Expenses Below)
International Student Information:

Student & Exchange Visitor Program Fee:

All individuals receiving a SEVIS Form I-20 (as of 9/1/04) is required to pay a $100.00 fee. The purpose of the fee is to cover the costs for the continued operation of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program. The SEVIS fee must be paid and fully processed before the applicant arrives at the consulate for the visa interview. Tuition & Living Expenses:

Starting with the Summer 2005 semester, the International Student tuition rate will be $150.00 per credit hour. Students are also responsible for course fees (if applicable), textbooks, supplies, and personal living expenses. See below for a cost estimation for the 2005-2006 Academic Year:

* Student Athletes are also required to pay $800 for Health Insurance. (Total Tuition and Living Expenses will then inrease to $11,700.

* Please note the living costs are based upon a twelve (12) month academic year. Students who do not plan on remaining in the United States for the full year can reduce their Room & Board, Personal, and Commuting expenses.

* Some expenses may be deducted if student can show other means of support (i.e., host family, scholarship, etc.).
