The GED test is given approximately eight times within a year. Students interested in taking the test need to register at the Regional Superintendents of Schools, 200 S. College Street Suite B., Danville, Illinois 61832, phone (217) 431-2668. There is a $35.00 fee to be paid upon registration and a picture ID must be shown. A student must be registered at least one week prior to the test date.

In addition to the five GED tests, Illinois residents are required to satisfactorily pass an examination on the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of the State of Illinois. If this test was taken in High School and passed the student need not take it.

An individual is eligible to apply for taking the test in the county where he/she lives if they meet the following qualifications:

1. 18 years of age or older and not a high school graduate but the high school class he/she would have graduated with has graduated.
2. 17 years of age or older and a member of the armed forces.
3. 17 years of age and a ward of the Department of Corrections or an inmate.
4. 17 years of age pregnant or a parent.
5. 17 years of age and been a drop out for one full year.
