Teaching Philosophy
and Practice:
An effective teacher is one who is: sincere, honest, curious
and open minded. an effective teacher must also be demanding
and have high expectations of the students, otherwise, achievements
based on mediocrity are hollow and meaningless.
I believe that high standards are best met by teachers exercising leadership and authority balanced with fostering an unintimidating
learning environment. I strive to attain this by using
humor in the classroom, relating complex concepts to common experiences and getting to know my students as people. This produces a relaxed atmosphere which promotes participation and interaction.

Teaching Philosophy and Practice:
I look forward to starting a new class every year. New students present
an opportunity for new adventure and discovery in the healthcare
journey.
My teaching philosophy is very simple: I believe in an open
classroom setting where students are encouraged and expected
to participate. My ultimate goal is to produce the most
qualified Radiographers that any healthcare facility could hire.
My expectations of students are to be mindful and respectful of
others, to have integrity, demonstrate professionalism and to
enjoy and contribute to an atmosphere of experiential learning
and creativity. Successful students demonstrate initiative
and problem solving skills, embrace coping mechanisms that provide
balance in one’s daily life and express compassion for the patient.
The best way I know how to convey this is to lead by example.
I have high expectations for my students but no more than I
expect from myself.

Teaching Philosophy and Practice:
I appreciate this opportunity that has been given to me.
I have been blessed to have had a terrific education with amazing instructors. I believe that where much has been given that much is then required. The role of an instructor should never be taken lightly. It is my turn to give back what was given to me.
I want to share my excitement and knowledge of echocardiography. I want the students to enjoy their education. I want them to be confident in the skills. My goal is to have medical facilities asking specifically for DACC echocardiographers.
