Admission
Criteria
-
Applicants must meet
all admission criteria for Danville Area Community College and must
have an official high school transcript or GED.

Before being
considered for admission into the Radiologic Technology program,
applicants must have:

Placement tested into college algebra (MATH 111) or
higher algebra-based math course or have successfully completed (grade
"C" or better) MATH 105 or higher math course within the last five
years. -
Successfully completed (grade "C" or better) BIOL 136
and 137* Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II within the last five
years. -
Successfully completed (grade "C" or better) PHYS 141
Physical Science I within the last five years. -
Performed a 2-3 hour observation session in the
diagnostic imaging department of a DACC affiliated clinical education
site, complete the observation form and submit it to the Radiologic
Technology Program Director at DACC. -
Submitted transcripts from all other colleges attended
and a DACC application if transferring to DACC.

Residency
-
Applicants who are legal residents of Community College District 507 will be
given priority for admission provided all admission criteria are met. This
is contingent on the completion of general education courses as stated above.

Non-residents of District 507 will be considered for admission after all
qualified and eligible in-district applicants have been offered admission.

Official definition of residence and description of District 507 boundaries are
available in the Registration and Student Services offices.

Applicants must be able to perform the essential
functions of the Program, and must therefore, meet the Technical
Requirements of the Radiologic Technology Program.

Drug screening and current immunization status must be
completed prior to the first day of classes. A medical history
form and a physician's exam must also be completed indicating the
applicant meets the technical requirements of the Radiologic
Technology program regarding physical, emotional, and mental skills
and abilities or that reasonable accommodations will be requested.

Students must adhere to DACC's drug free policy and
must meet criteria of each clinical site utilized by the Program.

Applicants must possess the ability to use the English
language to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with
individuals of all professional and social levels.

If qualified applicants exceed seat availability, the
applicants will be rank-ordered according to their grades in the
pre-requisite courses; then according to their grades in the other
general education courses.

Applicants accepted into the Program must respond with
an acceptance or declination letter by the date specified on the
acceptance letter. No response or a late response will be
considered a declination, and the seat will be offered to the next
qualified applicant.

If all seats are filled for the current year,
remaining qualified applicants must submit another application for the
following year. Applications and waiting lists of qualified
applicants will not be maintained from year to year.

Application packets can be found at DACC in the
Radiologic Technology Program Director's office and the Advising and
Counseling offices. Applications must be submitted by June 1 of
the year the applicant wishes to enter the program.
*Current within five years. Students who have
begun the Biology sequence with BIOL 102 in the Fall semester are
still eligible for selection consideration. However, if selected
into the program, BIOL 137 must be successfully completed during the
Summer Session immediately preceding entry into the program.
