Teaching Philosophy
Quality teaching requires both a true passion for the material, but also the wish to improve the quality of life for students by increasing their problem solving skills and pushing them to achieve their full potential. Chemistry courses move at a rigorous pace and require students to be prepared, work diligently, exercise mathematical proficiency, and apply their critical thinking skills. Expectations of students should be high, and it is the student's responsibility to rise to that challenge. It is the instructor's responsibility to be understanding, available, flexible, and to adapt lesson plans to best suit the needs of those students. The proper balance of this student/teacher relationship will allow for mutual learning and will prepare students for what lies ahead.
