Danville Area Community College's (DACC) Coordinated Engineering Program is currently in partnership with the City of Danville, Aqua Illinois, and Timeomatic. The program also works with Fiberteq and Krupp. These partnerships provide students with the opportunity to work with local engineers to gain experience in their field of study.
DACC has developed an Engineering Internship Program in hopes of providing students with “real” engineering experience. It is our hope to equip students with more than academics. We recommend internship experiences because they can affect the students’ future employment and salaries. Internships also help students connect classroom material to real engineering.
All internships are paid with salaries ranging from minimum wage to $12.50 per hour. In the past, we have partnered with local industries such as Aqua Illinois, Krupp, Black Beauty, Timeomatic, KIK, Danville Metal Stamping, the City of Danville Engineering, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Fiberteq, and American Freight to provide internships.
Short term internships associated with Engineering for Tomorrow (EFT) have also been provided by Vermilion County Manufacturing Cluster companies such as Danville Metal, Tridan International, J&N Enterprises, and Holmes Brothers, Inc.
Current criteria for placement consideration:
We now place approximately 70% of our students in engineering related internships. However, all internships are competitive; there is no guarantee for a particular internship or even that a student will be placed.
