The physics, equipment, data acquisition, processing, storage, display, and transmission in digital medical imaging. Advantages/disadvantages of digital imaging and quality control of digital imaging systems.
PREREQUISITES:
Successful Completion of RDTC106 and RDTC110

COURSE OBJECTIVES / GOALS:
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
  • Identify different types of computers
  • Describe the major functions of the CPU
  • Identify major computer components
  • Explain basic computer operation including hardware and software
  • Discuss the various types of memory
  • Define RIS, HIS, PACS, CR/DR/DF, CT, MRI, and DICOM
  • Identify the applications of RIS, HIS, PACS, CR/DR/DF, CT, MRI, and DICOM
  • Describe image acquisition and manipulation by digital means
  • Compare digital and analog imaging systems
  • Identify the components of CT, MRI, and CR/DR/DF systems; the ancillary equipment and applications of each
