COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Contrast media enhanced Radiologic procedures of the gastrointestinal, biliary, urinary, reproductive, salivary, musculoskeletal and central nervous systems. Procedural principles, terminology and corresponding anatomy are also included. 2 lecture hours, 3 lab hours.
PREREQUISITES:
Successful Completion of RDTC105, RDTC107, RDTC108, and RDTC109
NOTES:

COURSE OBJECTIVES / GOALS:
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
  • Identify external landmarks and correlate to underlying anatomy of interest
  • Accurately position the part and patient to demonstrate the anatomy of interest
  • Accurately calculate the kVp and mAs for a given procedure
  • Identify the pertinent radiographic anatomy and basic pathology on images
  • Properly use ancillary positioning devices such as markers, calipers, sponges, etc.
  • Practice proper radiation safety and follow the ALARA principle
  • Establish rapport with patients and acquire medical history pertinent to the procedure
  • Administer various contrast agents to patients as indicated
  • Recognize and treat adverse reactions to contrast agents
  • Use proper aseptic technique as indicated per procedure
  • Perform venipuncture

      EVALUATION:
      Objective tests, short answer quizzes, laboratory practical exams, comprehensive final exam. NOTE: The laboratory component will account for a significant portion of the total grade. 93% - 100% = A 84% - 92% = B 75% - 83% = C 66% - 74% = D 65% and below = F
