COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will expose the student to the complete diagnose and repair process for an industrial production machine.  The project will involve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems which will have to be analyzed and repaired.  The student will have the opportunity to perform a complete machine disassembly, repair, and reassembly using proper tools and techniques learned in earlier classes.  Heavy emphasis will be placed on shop work, blueprint reading, machine specifications, and diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

COURSE OBJECTIVES / GOALS:
  • The student will understand the interrelated functions and operations of the various systems on industrial equipment.
  • The student will continue to develop a systematic diagnosis process involved in the industrial maintenance field.
  • The student will learn the proper disassembly of industrial machines.
  • The student will learn the accurate determination of necessary parts and supplies for equipment repair.
  • The student will learn the proper reassembly of industrial machines.
  • The student will learn industrial machinery setup and calibration.

TEXTBOOK / SPECIAL MATERIALS:

EVALUATION:
A point system will be used to evaluate a student?s progress.  Points will be assigned to accurate diagnosis, efficient and accurate disassembly techniques, accurate reassembly and setup procedures, and proper machine operation at the end of the course.  In addition, written documentation of lab work, notations of machine repairs and a final analysis of the project is included in the course grade.
