COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is an introduction to the lathe engine.  Students are taught the fundamentals of shop safety and skills associated with the operation of the lathe engine for metal removal processes.

PREREQUISITES:
MFRG160

NOTES:

COURSE OBJECTIVES / GOALS:
  • In order for a student to succeed in today‚Äôs highly technical manufacturing environment, the student will become versed in the fundamental equipment and terminology associated with the machine tool industry.
  • The student will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the mathematics and measuring processes used in the machine tool industry.
  • Students will demonstate appropriate work ethics via attendance, clean up and maintenance of equipment.
  • The student will learn the safe and proper use of the lathe engine.
  • The student will be encouraged to seek NIMS credentials.
