Education: Early Childhood - Child Care Option

Associate in Applied Science Degree

The Child Care Option in the Early Childhood Program meets the requirements of the State of Illinois for the training of child care directors and workers. Students should complete most of their work prior to enrolling in EDUC 201, Early Childhood Education Internship. A criminal background check is required for all courses for which students must complete observation hours. Students must complete the criminal background check only once, as long as students are continuously enrolled. Students completing their practicums must meet DCFS requirements.

Upon completion of all the requirements of the program a student must show proof of current CPR/First Aid certification. Those students earning college hours through CDA credentialing must show proof that this is current in order to be awarded a degree.

Students must complete INST 101, Success in College, as a requirement for graduation.
