Jaguar Men's Basketball News



4/28/2008 - The Jaguars announced the signings of two recruits who will play for the DACC next season.  Derwin Gage, a 6'3 guard from Proviso East High School in Maywood Illinois and Tim Toler, a 6'7 Power Forward from Avon, Indiana.  Gage led Proviso East this season with 14 points and 7 rebounds per game.  Toler averaged more than 20 points and 8 rebounds.

"These two young men will provide us more athleticism and scoring punch next season.  Both put up big numbers in high school and will be expected to come in a provide instant help for next years team" Said DACC Head Coach Mike Carpenter.

3/25/2008 - The 2007-08 Jaguars finished the season with a 4th place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament and a final record of 24-12.  This was the best record and first appearance in the National Tournament for Danville since the 2001.

3/13/2008 - The 2008 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament will be held on the campus of Danville Area Community College March 19-22.  All information on the tournament can be found at www.dacc.edu/njcaa

3/11/2008 - The Jaguars won the Region 24 Championship and have earned a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament after defeating #1 seed Lincoln College 76-71.  The National Tournament will be held on the campus of Danville Area Community College March 19-22.  Danville has drawn a bye for the first round and will play Thursday, March 20th at 8:30 p.m. Their opponent is yet to be determined. 

3/9/2008 - The Jaguars are now one win away from advancing to the National Tournament after defeating Illinois Central College 78-71 in the Semi-Finals of the Region 24 Tournament.  Danville (22-10) now travels to Lincoln Christian College to face Lincoln College (26-6) on Monday night for the Championship game. Gametime is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. **The Championship game will be carried live locally on AM 1490 WDAN or anywhere in the world via the internet at www.1490wdan.com

3/8/2008 - The Jaguars advanced to the Championship game of the Region 24 tournament after beating #11 in the Nation Illinois Central College 78-71 in the semi-finals.  Danville was led in scoring by Sophomore center Sergey Struck who poured in 32 points on 12-14 shooting from the field.  Struck was also 4-5 from the 3 point arc.  DACC now will face Lincoln College for the Region Championship and berth to the NJCAA National Tournament.

3/6/2008 - Danville advanced to the Semi-finals of the Region 24 tournament after beating Lewis & Clark Community College 74-65.  Danville will now face #11 in the Nation Illinois Central in East Peoria on Saturday.

3/3/2008 - The Jaguars finished the regular season with a 20-10 overall ranking and have earned a #3 seed in the Region Tournament.  Danville will host Lewis & Clark Community College on Thursday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m.

2/4/2008 - The Jaguars improved to 14-7 with a 70-66 win over Kankakee Community College on Saturday afternoon.  DACC has won 7 of it's last 9 games.  Sophomore guard Marcus Thomas led Danville against KCC with 30 points on 9-14 shooting.  DACC has a rematch with Lincoln College on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.  The Lynx defeated Danville in overtime 92-86 back on January 5th.

1/22/2008 - The Jaguars are currently 12-5 and winners of 5 in a row, and 8 of their last 10 games.  Danville most recently defeated John Wood Community College in a low scoring contest 54-52.  Next, the Jaguars travel to Conference opponent Parkland College on Wednesday, January 23rd at 7:30 p.m.

1/14/2008 - The Jaguars improved to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the Conference with a 84-72 win over Shawnee Community College.  Sophomore Center/Forward Sergey Struck had a career high 35 points and 14 rebounds.  Marcus Thomas had 19 points and Freshman Ted Hardy chipped in with 10.  Danville plays host to Wabash College JV on Thursday and returns to Conference play again at home on Saturday, January 19th at 4:00 p.m. vs. Lewis & Clark.

12/15/2007 - Today's game vs John Wood has been postponed due to the weather.  It has been rescheduled for Monday, January 21st at 4:00 p.m.

12/5/2007 - The Jaguars beat undefeated Wabash Valley 81-77 to improve to 6-3 on the season.  Danville was led by Marcus Thomas with 24 points and Freshman Ted Hardy with a Career high 22 points.  Sophomore Sergey Struck recorded another double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.  Danville plays at HOME on Saturday vs. Illinois Valley at 4:00 p.m.

11/28/2007 - The DACC Jaguars defeated Lincoln Trail College 76-65 on Wednesday night.  Danville found themselves down as many as 10 points in the first half, but 3 straight 3 pointers just before halftime closed the Statesman lead to 1 at the half.  DACC jumped on Lincoln Trail early in the second half, building a 16 point lead.  Marcus Thomas again led the way for Danville with 15 points and 8 rebounds.  Sergey Struck added 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots. Freshman Ronnie Bell of Danville High School came off the bench to score 9 for the Jaguars.  Next up for Danville is a rematch with undefeated DI Wabash Valley on Tuesday, November 28th at 7:30 p.m.

11/26/2007 - The Jaguars traveled to 7-0 Wabash Valley and were defeated 85-78.  Marcus Thomas led the way for DACC with 24 points (6-10 from 3 pt range) and Sergey Struck added 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Next up is a rematch with Lincoln Trail at HOME on Wednesday, November 28th at 7:30 p.m.

11/20/2007 - On Tuesday the Jaguars traveled to NJCAA DI Kankakee and won 67-64.  This was the 3rd win in a row for DACC.  Danville was led in scoring by Sergey Struck who finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds.  The Jaguars travel to undefeated Wabash Valley on Monday, November 26th.

11/19/2007 - The Jaguars defeated Region XXIV opponent Rend Lake College on Saturday 64-54.  Danville was led by Marcus Thomas with 12 points and Sergey Struck with 10.  All ten Jaguars who played scored.  Danville led by as many as 18 in the second half.  Next up for the Jaguars is Kankakee Community College at Kankakee on Tuesday, November 20th beginning at 7:30 p.m.

11/17/2007 -  The Jaguars defeated Lake Land College 74-72 on a last second steal and basket by freshman Dion Teague.  DACC out rebounded Lake Land 40-21.  Danville had 4 players in double figures with Marcus Thomas leading the way with 19, Sergey Struck and Mark Dunn each had 12 and Antwone Rogers chipped in with 10.  The Jaguars are back in action on Saturday, November 17th at home vs. Rend Lake at 3:00 p.m.

11/14/2007 - The Danville Men's Basketball team (1-2) will play it's home opener tonight vs. Lake Land College.  Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

11/6/2007 - Playing in their 3rd road game in 6 days, the 11th ranked Jaguars traveled to Illinois Valley and lost 72-63.  No stats were immediately available.

11/3/2007 - The Jaguars traveled to Region 24 opponent Rend Lake College and defeated the Warriors 72-63.  Anthony Lee Ingram led Danville with 20 points while Marcus Thomas had 18 points.

11/1/2007 - The DACC Jaguars opened up the 2007-08 season with a tough road loss 67-62 at the hands of last seasons Region 24 DI champion Lincoln Trail College.  Danville lead by as many as 15 points in the first half and held a 9 point halftime lead.  However, the Statesmen fought back in the second half and took the lead with 2:01 remaining in the game.  Mark Dunn led the Jaguars in scoring with 18 points.
