Jill Haas has earned yet another honor as she was selected by the Region 24 coaches for the "All Region Team".  Jill recently committed to Olivet University in Kankakee to continue her play next year.  Jill will major in Art Education as well as play tennis at Olivet.  We wish her the best of luck.


The honors for Lady Jaguar players have begun to come in as Jill Haas was named 2nd team all conference while Toni Burney was selected 3rd team all conference as well as the Player of the Year in the Midwest Athletic Conference, an honor she shared with Parkland's Ashley Lillard.  Ashley Kinnett was selected honorable mention.


The Lady Jaguars dropped their first round game in Region 24 play to finish the season on Monday 56-49 to Spoon River.  The Jaguars could not overcome the 40 free throws shot by Spoon River who pressed full court the entire game.  Leading the Jaguars was Toni Burney with 25 pts, 9 rebounds and 5 steals.  Jill Haas lead the team with 6 assists.  Again the Jaguars were without Ashley Kinnett who was out due to illness.


The Lady Jaguars will open Region 24 play on Monday at 7:00 p.m. against Spoon River in Lincoln, IL at Lincoln Christian College.  The second round of the regional will be Wednesday evening either at ICC in Peoria or at John Wood in Quincy.  Semi finals and Finals are on Saturday and Sunday in Jacksonville, IL at Illinois College.


The regular season ended Wednesday with a lose at Parkland 62-51.  Ashley Kinnett despite suffering from the flu lead all scorers with 14 pts and had 3 steals also while fellow sophomore Jill Haas contributed 10 pts and lead in rebounding with 9 for the Jaguars.  Toni Burney lead the team in Assists.  The Jaguars will play on Monday in the regional but the site and opponent are unsure at this time.


On a day while honoring the parents of all the student/athletes, the Lady Jaguars could not over come the veteran and talented MWAC leader John Wood C.C. losing 69-54.  Prior to the game parents were honored as well as a moment of silence for former player Molly Williams who passed away in September in South Carolina while preparing for her senior year of play.  Molly's jersey was retired yesterday at Limestone College prior to the game at Limeston.  The Jaguars were playing without Sophomore Ashley Kinnett, their leading rebound and second in assists and scoring, due to illness which proved to be too much of a hurdle for the young Lady Jaguars against MWAC leader John Wood on Saturday.   Several of the Jaguars stepped up but could not overcome the talented veteran squad from JWCC.  Jill Haas scored 13 pts while Toni Burney had 11 pts and Leslie Wright scored 10 in the effort.  Lisa Harper had 7 rebounds and Jamie Foy had 6 as did Jill.  Tabitha Molberg lead the team in assists with 5.  The Jaguars will conclude their regular season on Wednesday at Parkland College. 


Despite out rebounding No. 1 ranked ICC on Wednesday night, the Lady Jaguars could not sustain their strong play losing 83-61.  Committing 23 turnovers lead to 33 pts for the No. 1 ranked team in the nation.  Leading the Jaguars was Jill Haas with 18 pts, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.  Toni Burney contributed 14 pts, 7 rebounds and 4 assists while Ashley Kinnett had 17 pts, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  Lisa Harper had 11 rebounds for the Jaguars.  Next is John Wood at home on Saturday at 2:00.  The parents of our student athletes will be honored prior to the game.


The Lady Jaguars defeated Lewis & Clark on Saturday 62-51.  The Jaguars never trailed and had leads of 14 pts a couple of times, fighting off run after run by the Lady Trailblazers.  Leading the Jaguars was Ashley Kinnett with 19 pts, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and steals.  Jill Haas had 12 pts, 5 rebounds, 4 assists along with 2 steals while holding Tal Milchan to just 6 pts (12 below her average).  Toni Burney had 5 pts along with 6 assists and 3 steals.  Lisa Harper contributed 13 pts, 7 rebounds and 3 assists as well as 3 steals.  Leslie Wright returned to the starting lineup and contributed 6 pts, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.  All the other Jaguars contributed to the victory as well.  


The Lady Jaguars lost another close game on Wednesday to Spoon River 64-61.  Jill Haas had 20 pts, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the Jaguars in scoring.  Ashley Kinnett had 10 pts, 8 rebounds, 8 assist and 3 steals.  Toni Burney had 18 pts, 5 rebounds along with 7 steals.  This makes 15 loses by less than 10 pts for the season.  Next is Lewis & Clark, #13 in the nation on Saturday at 2:00 in MM Gym.  Next Wednesday the Jaguars travel to ICC in Peoria to play the #1 team in the country.


The Lady Jaguars were able to with stand the intense pressure by Shawnee to pull out a victory in the end.  With the score 59-58, the Jaguars went on a 15-2 run to win 74-60.  Leading the team in scoring was Jill Haas with 20 pts, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Toni Burney lead the team in assists with 8 along with 11 points.  Ashley Kinnett had 13 rebounds to go with her 10 pts and 5 assists.  The Jaguars are now 4-20 with 5 games remaining.  Next is Spoon River in Canton on Wednesday at 5:30.


Lady Luck continues to fail the Jaguars as they lose another close one to Lincoln Land 70-69.  The Jaguars had the ball with 6 seconds remaining but failed to score.  Leading the team in scoring was Toni Burney with 21 pts while Jill Haas and Lisa Harper each had 15 pts along with 4 steals.  Jill lead the team in assists with 8.  Ashley Kinnett lead the team in rebounds with 7 to go with her 9 pts and 6 assists.

Next up is Shawnee at home on Saturday at 2:00.


Lincoln downed DACC Jaguars 74-53 Saturday in Lincoln.  Ashley Kinnett lead the Jaguars in scoring with 12 pts, 4 assists and 3 steals while Jill Haas had 6 rebounds.  The Jaguars shot only 28% from 2pt range and 8% from outside the arc in their poorest shooting of the season.  Next up is Lincoln Land in Springfield on Wednesday at 5:30.


The Lady Jaguars dropped another close game Wednesday 65-60 against Millikin JV.  With the game tied at 60-60, the Jaguars fouled with 38 seconds remaining and Millikin made their free throws.  The Jaguars could not make a basket the next two possessions while Millikin hit 5 free throws.  Ashley Kinnett had 20 pts, 14 rebounds, 3 steals along with 5 assists for the Jaguars.  Toni Burney had 10 pts, 6 assists and 3 steals.  Lisa Harper had 19 rebounds to lead the team.

The roller coast play of the Lady Jaguars continued today at Shawnee as the Jaguars took and 13 pt half time lead only to let it slip away losing 77-70 to the Lady Saints.  Toni Burney lead all scorers with 27 pts along with 6 assists.  Ashley Kinnett contributed 15 pts, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.  Next is Millikin JV at 5:30 on Wednesday in MM Gym


Playing perhaps their best game of the year, the Lady Jaguars defeated the Lady Cobras of Parkland 64-55.  Leading the Jaguars was Jill Haas with 17 pts, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.  Toni Burney had 15 pts to go with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 steals, while Ashley Kinnett had 13 pts, 5 rebounds, 4 assists.  This makes the Jaguars 2-4 in the conference and 3-16 overall.  Next up is Shawnee in Ullin, IL at 2:00 on Saturday.  


John Wood defeated the Lady Jaguars in Quincy on Saturday 70-59 to remain undefeated in the conference.  The Jaguars dropped to 1-4 on the young conference season.  Ashley Kinnett scored 22 pts and had 7 rebounds in the losing cause.  Toni Burney had 4 steals while Jill Haas, returning from a bout with the flu, had 5 assists and 7 rebounds along with 12 pts.  Next is Parkland in MM GYM on Thursday.  Note this game has been moved from its original Wed. time.

 


Playing without leading scorer, Jill Haas, the Lady Jaguars dropped another conference match to Lincoln Land Wednesday 69- 56.  Leading the Jaguars were Toni Burney with 19 pts, Brittany Fisher with 9 rebounds, while Toni had 5 assists and 3 steals.  This makes the Jaguars 1-3 in the confernce.  Next up will be John Wood on Saturday.


In a hard fought contest at Lewis & Clark, The Lady Jaguars dropped to 1-2 in the conference with a 75-65 loss Saturday.  Ashley Kinnett had 14 pts and 7 rebounds while Jill Haas had 12 pts with 7 assists.  Lisa Harper lead the team in rebounding with 9 for the game.  The game was lost at the free throw line where the Trailblazers made 22/26 will the Jaguars only shot 8 for the complete game.  The Jaguars fall to 1-2 in the MWAC and 2-14 overall.  Next is Lincoln Land at home on Wednesday at 5:30 in MM Gym.


The Lady Jaguars won their second game of the season last night defeating Lincoln College 84-55 in MM Gym.  Leading the Lady Jaguars were Ashley Kinnett with 24 pts while Jill Haas had 22 pts along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists.  Jamie Foy had 10 rebounds and 4 steals to lead those categories.  "A complete team effort." stated Coach Hicks as every player scored during the contest.  Next up is L&C on Saturday in Godfrey, IL.


Carl Sandburg defeated the Lady Jaguars on Jan. 2nd 73-45.  Playing perhaps their poorest game of the season the Lady Jaguars could not recover from an early deficit.  Toni Burney lead the team with 12 pts while Ashley Kinnett lead the team in rebounding before fouling out.  Next up is Lincoln at home on January 4th at 5:30 in MM Gym; the second game in the MWAC.  


The Lady Jaguars opened conference play last night against Spoon River in MM Gym with a 69-63 loss.  Jill Haas lead the team in scoring with 19 pts while Ashley Kinnett lead the team with 8 assists and 5 rebounds despite being injured with 16 minutes remaining in the game.  The Jaguars now are 1-12 and 0-1 in the conference.  Next up is Carl Sandburg on Jan. 2nd at 5:00 and then Lincoln at home on the 4th at 5:30.


The Lady Jaguars finished the Pre conference portion of their schedule today with a loss to KCC 66-64.  Jill Haas had 25 pts, 9 rebounds, 5 assists to lead the Lady Jaguars in those categories.  Ashley Kinnett and Toni Burney each had 11 pts in the losing cause.  The Jaguars are now 1-11 and will break for finals before beginning their conference schedule against Spoon River on Dec. 20th at MM Gym.


The game scheduled for today at Carl Sandburg has been canceled due to the weather.  The game is rescheduled for January 2nd at 5:00.


The Lady Jaguars dropped a third straight close game during the week Saturday at Joliet Jr. College 62-61.  The Lady Jaguars took the lead early but behind the quick trio of guards for Joliet soon had to fight back to a tie at half time.  The second halve saw neither team with more than a 5 point lead.  The Lady Wolves took a lead with less than 8 seconds remaining and the Jaguars were unable to get a shot off before the buzzer.  Leading the Lady Jaguars were Lisa Harper with 12 pts and 11 rebounds.  Ashley Kinnett had 11 points and 6 rebounds sitting out almost all the second half due to stomach flu.  Jill Haas had 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the Jaguars in those categories.  Next up will be home games on Tuesday, Wabash, and Saturday versus Kankakee.  On Thursday the Jaguars travel to Carl Sandburg.  These games finish the non conference portion of the 1st half of a grueling schedule. 


The Lady Jaguars were defeated last night by ICC, Pre season #1, 79-76.  Bothered by the press early the Lady Jaguars were down 21 -2 then fought back to within 5 at half time.  The game was tied at 74 all with about 2 minutes remaining.  Leading the team effort were sophomores Ashley Kinnett, 21pts, 12 rebs, and 7 assists, and Jill Haas with 19 pts, 9 rbs, and 6 assists.  Toni Burney had 16 pts while Jamie Foy had 9 pts and 6 rebounds in her effort to guard the 6'6 All-American Suzzanne Bofia.  Leslie Wright and Tabitha Molberg also played key roles in the team effort.  Jill Moreman, Lisa Harper, Angela Roth, and Melissa Blackford also gave valuable effort.

The Lady Jaguars lost to Lincoln Trail on Tuesday 74-70 in their best performance of the year.  Leading the Lady Jaguars was Jill Haas (22 pts and 5 assists) and Ashley Kinnett (18 pts and 11 rebounds).  Leslie Wright and Toni Burney each scored 11 points in the loss.  ICC the pre season # 1 DII school comes to Mary Miller on Thursday at 6:00.


The Lady Jaguars dropped a hard fought game to #4 rated KCC in Kankakee last night 80-63.  The Jaguars were down in the first half by over 21 pts.  The Jaguars cut the lead to 10 with 6 minutes to go but were not able to get any closer.  Leading the Lady Jaguars was Ashley Kinnett with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists.  Jill Haas contributed 19 pts as well.


The Lady Jaguars fell to Millikin JV on Saturday 68-60 in a hard fought game.  Trailing by 2 with less than 2 minutes the young Jaguars were not able to overcome a couple of tough breaks.  Jill Haas lead the Jaguars in scoring with 19 pts along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists.  Lisa Harper continued her improved performance with 8 rebounds also.  Leslie Wright lead the team with 4 assists.  The Jaguars are now 1-5 and now play the preseason #4 ranked Kankakee in Kankakee on Tuesday before a much needed break.  Playing perhaps the toughest schedule in the country, the Lady Jaguars will return home on Tuesday Nov. 29th to face DI opponent Lincoln Trail and on Dec. 1st play ICC, the #1 rated DII in the nation only to then travel to Joliet to face the  #3 rated DIII team.


The Lady Jaguars were defeated by Lake Land on Friday night in Mattoon, IL 69-46.  Leading the Lady Jaguars was Jill Haas with 16 pts, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.  Lisa Harper had 9 rebounds to lead the team while Ashley Kinnett had 5 assist with 10 pts and 7 rebounds.  


The Lady Jaguars fell to Olney on Wednesday 68-60.  Ashley Kinnett lead the team in scoring with 15 points while Toni Burney lead the team in assists and rebounds.  Lack of communication on defense as well as a poor shooting night lead to the Lady Jaguar downfall.

The Lady Jags return to action on Friday at 7:00 in Mattoon, IL against Lake Land and then play Millikin JV on Saturday at 12:00 in Mattoon. 


The Lady Jaguars dropped their second game in a row to Wabash Valley last night 72-64.  This was a close contest for most of the game with the Lady Jaguars trailing by 3 with 2 minutes remaining.  Leading the Lady Jaguars in scoring with 14 points were Jill Haas, Ashley Kinnett, and Brittany Fisher all three sophomores rose to the occasion last night.  Ashley and Brittany also had 7 rebounds each to lead in that department.  Ashley lead the team in assists with 4 while Melissa Blackford had 4 steals.  The Lady Jaguars are now 1-2 and will have their home opener on Wednesday, November 16th at 5:30 versus another DI opponent, Olney Community College.


The Lady Jaguars dropped a game on Monday evening in Springfield, IL to Robert Morris College 78-69.  The Lady Jaguars were lead in scoring by Ashley Kinnett with 15 pts and Jill Haas with 8 rebounds to go with her 14 pts.  Toni Burney had 10 points with 7 assists.  The Lady Jaguars are now 1-1 with their next game at Wabash Valley in Mt. Carmel, IL on Thursday at 5:30 CST.


The Lady Jaguars opened their season last night at IVCC, Olgeby, IL in a very exciting game. The Lady Jaguars were down 42-27 at half but fought back to get a win 79-76.  Leading the Lady Jaguars was Toni Burney with 19 points.  Jill Haas had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists to lead in the other categories.  Brittany Fisher, Leslie Wright, and Tabitha Molberg also scored in double figures.  This was a total team effort without Ashley Kinnett, the leading scorer and rebounder returning from last year.  Next up is Robert Morris on Monday Nov. 7th in Springfield, IL. 

 

 

The Jamboree schedule has been set.  Please check the schedule for times and locations of the games for your favorite teams.  The Jamboree is sponsored this year by Burger King. 


Jamboree set for October 15th beginning at 9:00.  The 13 teams will be at Mary Miller Gym and the Boys&Girls Club in preparation for the upcoming season.  Each team will be playing 3 games throughout the day.  Teams include Lake Land, Lincoln College, Kankakee, Sauk Valley, IVCC, Joliet, So. Suburban, McHenry, SE Iowa, Moraine Valley, Kennedy King, Spoon River and DACC.  The schedule will be set by October 1st. 


Molly Williams, a DACC graduate of 2004, passed away Sept. 1st in Gaffney, SC while on a conditioning run with her teammates at Limestone College.  Molly is remembered for her friendliness and her hard work ethics while at DACC.  The true student/athlete she worked hard to achieve good grades in class putting that before basketball which was her true love.  She was one to greet others first when they came on campus.  She never seemed to meet a stranger; always putting others ahead of herself.  #40 Molly will be remembered always at DACC. Our prayers are with her parents Ron and Candy Williams as well as to her brother Ronnie, a freshman at DACC.


The Lady Jaguars have begun conditioning and individual workouts.  Any Danville Area Community College student is welcome to join if they would like to become a member of the team. 


The Danville Area Community College Lady Jaguar schedule for 2005-06 has been set with 1 open date remaining.  The schedule once again is a very aggressive one, featuring several DI schools as well as the DII teams in Region 24.  "Our ladies will have to grow up in a hurry as this is perhaps one of the strongest schedules we have had" states Coach Lyle Hicks. 


The Lady Jaguars dropped their 2nd straight game Saturday at Lincoln Trail 64-55.  Leading the Lady Jaguars was Anna Hale with 13 pts and Jennifer Patrick in rebounding.  Next up is Olney on Monday December 6th at Olney.  The Lady Jaguars will return home from the very difficult road trip Saturday to take on the Big Blue from Millikin University at 5:30.


The Lady Jaguars dropped a hard fought game to Wabash Valley on Tuesday 52-42.  Leading the Lady Jaguars was  Ashley Kinnett with 17 pts.  Jennifer Patrick lead the team in rebounding again.


 The Lady Jaguars will return to action after the Thanksgiving break with a new assistant coach.  Klynt Johnson will move from the men's program to become the Assistant Women's Coach with primary responsibility for recruiting as well as helping with games and practices.  


The Lady Jaguars lost to Illinois Central College last night 93 -71 at home.  Leading the Lady Jaguars was Ashley Kinnett with 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Ashley also had 2 steals in perhaps her best game at the college level.  Next up for the Lady Jaguars is Olney C. C. at home on Wednesday.  The Lady Jaguars travel to Lake Land C.C. for a tournament on Friday and Saturday.


The Lady Jaguars defeated Wabash Valley C.C. on Tuesday evening 96-86.  Jennifer Patrick scored 26 pts, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists to lead the Lady Jaguars.  A complete team effort with 4 players in double figures.  Next for the Lady Jaguars is Olney at home on Wednesday the 17th. 


The Lady Jaguars traveled to Walters State College in Morristown, TN last weekend to play two very tough DI schools.  The team lost both games but showed marked improvement on Sunday against Vol. State after dropping the Saturday game to Walters State.  


 The Lady Jaguars defeated Robert Morris College last night 69-60.  The Lady Jaguars were lead by Tricia Wright, Jill Haas, Carli Fisher, and Laura Humphreys.  The Lady Jaguars will now begin a stretch of 10 games in the next three weeks against ranked opponents with only one from Div. II.  The young Lady Jaguars travel to Tennessee and return home next Tuesday to face Wabash Valley C.C.


The Lady Jaguars hosted the Alumni on October 30th at 5:00 defeating the Alumni by more than 30 pts. Only 6 of the Alumni returned to participate but fun was had by everyone.  We hope that more Alumni will return next year.


The Lady Jaguars traveled to Vincennes on October 31st to play 3 games in a Jamboree as a final tune-up for the season.  The Lady Jaguars will play SW Illinois, losing by 11 pts, then played Kaskaskia defeating them by more than 18 pts and finished the day defeating John A Logan at the buzzer with a 3 pt shot by Tricia Wright.


The Lady Jaguars will be hosting Robert Morris College on Wednesday November 3rd at Mary Miller Gym beginning at 5:30.  The Robert Morris team has former Lady Jaguar Bonnie Hobson and are coached by Brad Hansen who was the assistant coach here at DACC for 4 yrs. 


The Lady Jaguar schedule is now complete with 30 games scheduled as well as the 4 scrimmage dates.  Also, the Alumni game is set for October 30th at 5:00 P.M. with several alumni announcing they will return.  Any alumni of the Lady Jaguars is invited to contact Coach Hicks to attend the game.  Bring your family and friends out for an evening of fun.


The 2004 Jamboree scheduled for October 16th has been tentatively set.  Changes may occur before the 16th.  The teams are established but games may be changed.  Anyone interested in obtaining a Team Booklet should contact Coach Hicks.  Unfortunately the NCAA will not be sanctioning this event.  


  The Lady Jaguars have hired Anjail Abdullah as the new assistant coach for the 2004-05 season.  Coach Abdullah brings coaching experience as well as experience with camps while a student at the University of Illinois.   


 
Four of the Sophomores from 2003-04 have accepted Scholarship offers.  Ashley Houston has signed with IU-South Bend while Melissa DeVore, Danielle Vieira, and Molly Williams all signed with Limestone College in South Carolina.  The coach for Limestone is former All American Jaguar, Corey Fox.  Good luck to all four as they pursue their education and continue playing.
