Game 1 vs. Springfield College, Won 6-2

In the first game of the 2009 Region XXIV tournament, the Lady Jaguars
plated a run in the fourth on a Taryn Nohmer single and 5 runs in the
fifth to move on to the second round. Kendra Gallion went 4-4 with an RBI
in the contest, while Kelsey Russell went 3-5. Taryn Nohmer and Bailey
Herron each drove in two runs in contest. Jordan Millspaugh went the
distance, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. The Lady Jaguars lost a key member
of the team, when Brittney Ault went down with a separated shoulder.

Game 2 vs. Illinois Central College, Lost 4-1 in 9 innings

Game 2 of the tournament was suspended due to lightning and rain with the
score tied at 0-0 in the 3rd inning. Once play resumed, the Lady Jags
jumped on top of the Cougars when Ariel Hardcastle scored on a wild pitch.
With 2 outs and a runner on second, the Cougars would tie the game on a
bloop hit to left field. The score would hold at 1-1 until the bottom of
the 9th, when the Cougars hit a 3-run walk-off home run to end the game.
Terra Ramsey accounted for 2 of the 3 Lady Jag hits in the contest.
Melanie Krout took the loss. The Lady Jags now move to the Consolation
Bracket and will face Lewis and Clark Community College.

Game 3 vs. Lewis and Clark Community College, Won 5-4 in 8 innings

The Lady Jaguars trailed 4-0 going into the bottom of the 7th inning, when
things really got exciting. After a two-out base hit by Bailey Herron,
Kayla Nixon came up a hit an opposite field homerun to cut the lead to 2
runs. The Lady Jags would tie up the game on a 2 run single by Ariel
Hardcastle. In the bottom of the 8th, Kayla Nixon singled and would score
the game-winning run on a single by Kendra Gallion. Jordan Millspaugh
went the distance, earning her second win on the tournament. Kendra
Gallion and Kayla Nixon each went 2-4 in the game. Next up for the Lady
Jags is Lincoln Land Community College.

Game 4 vs. Lincoln Land Community College, Won 1-0

The Lady Jags were 0-4 versus the Lady Loggers, coming into the
elimination game of the tournament. Despite only getting one hit in the
contest, the Lady Jags prevailed 1-0. Taryn Nohmer had an RBI single in
the bottom of the 5th. Melanie Krout would pick up the win, allowing only
4 hits while striking out 4 batters. Next up for the Lady Jags would be
archrival Parkland College, who the Lady Jags haven't beaten since 2001.

Game 5 vs. Parkland College, Won 9-8

The Lady Jaguars were pumped up for this matchup from the moment they
found out they would play the Cobras. The Lady Jags would take a 3-0 lead
after 3 innings. Parkland would make the score 3-2, with 2 runs in the
top of the 5th, but a towering 3-run homerun by DACC catcher Bailey Herron
would make the score 6-2. In the top of the 6th, the Lady Jags would
commit 4 errors leading to 6 Cobra runs, to make the score 8-6. The score
would remain 8-6 going into the bottom of the 7th, where the Lady Jaguars
would do the unthinkable. The Lady Jaguars would tie the game at 8-8,
after back to back doubles by Kelsey Russell and Terra Ramsey and an RBI
single by Bailey Herron. Then Kayla Nixon would end the game on an
opposite field double, scoring Bailey Herron from first. Jordan
Millspaugh picked up her 3rd win of the tournament. The win set up a
rematch with Illinois Central College with the right to represent Region
XXIV at the Division II National Tournament.

Game 6 vs. Illinois Central College, Lost 11-3

A great postseason run for the Lady Jaguars came to an end, as they
dropped the Consolation Championship game to Illinois Central, 11-3.
Eventhough the Lady Jags fell short in their attempt to make the National
Tournament, they went further than any other DACC softball team has ever
gone, finishing 3rd behind eventual National Champion Heartland Community
College and Illinois Central College.

Bailey Herron was named to the All-Tournament Team
