
Welcome to Danville Area Community College and
our Athletic Department. Danville competes in eleven sports and is a
member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as
well as Region 24 in the state of Illinois. DACC competes at the NJCAA
Division II level and our coaching staff is committed to moving young
people on to four-year institutions. We strive to win in the classroom
and on the field of competition while also building character of our
student-athletes. We believe that competing at the collegiate level is
a privilege and that our student-athletes must take care of the
classroom before they can compete. The ticket to the future is in the

Jaguar Current News (Week of 4/28/08)
Men's Basketball
4/28/2008 - The Jaguars announced the signings of two recruits who will
play for the DACC next season. Derwin Gage, a 6'3 guard from
Proviso East High School in Maywood Illinois and Tim Toler, a 6'7 Power
Forward from Avon, Indiana. Gage led Proviso East this season
with 14 points and 7 rebounds per game. Toler averaged more than
20 points and 8 rebounds.
"These two young men will provide us more athleticism and scoring punch
next season. Both put up big numbers in high school and will be
expected to come in a provide instant help for next years team" Said
DACC Head Coach Mike Carpenter.
Women's Basketball
4/28/2008 - Coach Lyle Hicks announced that 6
players have been signed
to play for the Lady Jaguars next season.
The signees are Ashley Ross, a 5’6 pt guard from Bloomington No,
IN.,
Shelby Ross, a 5’9 guard from Columbus East, IN., Kassie Yates, a 5’5
guard
from Western Boone, IN., Keri Roach, a 5’9 forward from Bismarck
Henning, IL.,
Jessica Richards, a 6’0 forward from Warren Central, IN., and Aelleon
Woodard,
a 6’1 center from Kokomo, IN. Joining
this group will be Brittani Brandon, a 5’ 10 forward, Schlarman,
IL, who signed to play volleyball as
well
at DACC.
“I
am very excited to bring in such a well-balanced and talented group of
young
ladies who like to play the up-tempo style we use,” said Hicks. “These young ladies are perhaps the best
recruits I have had in my 8 years. They have the potential and the
necessary
work ethic to excel and take us to new heights.”
This
group will join returning All Region guard Abby Kinder, Chelsey Miller,
and
Colombe Martin. The Jaguars are looking
to sign 3 additional players
Indoor Track & Field
1/14/2008 - The Jaguars opened the season at the Illinois Wesleyan
University Relays on Saturday, January 12th. Tony Duerson set a
new school record in the 600 with a winning time of 1:23.27.
Kacey Carl won the triple jump and finished 3rd int he 55
hurdles. Next up for Danville is a meet at Eastern Illinois
University on Saturday, January 19th.
8/27/07 - Congratulations to former DACC Track and Cross Country runner
Kyle O'brien! On Saturday Kyle represented the United States at
the World Championships in Osaka, Japan. Dangerous temperatures
and humidly saw nearly 1/3 of the runners drop out of the race at the
halfway point. Kyle ran a strong race and finished in an
impressive 32nd place.
Volleyball
8/27/07 - The Lady Jaguars started their season Saturday
afternoon with a pair of victories. In Game one DACC defeated
Rend Lake College 27-30, 30-27, and 15-8. Danville was led by
Freshman Lindsey Drummond who tallied 5 Kills. In game two the
Lady Jaguars defeated Morton College in straight sets 30-20 and
30-14. Amy Osborn recorded 6 kills for Danville. Next up
for DACC is a road game at Kankakee on Wednesday, August 29th.
Baseball
6/5/2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Easton Baseball, in conjunction with
the NJCAA, has selected Danville Area Community College (Ill.) second
basemen Ben Wolgamot as the 2007 NJCAA Division II Baseball Defensive
Player of the Year. Wolgamot, a sophomore from Danville, Ill., earned
NJCAA Central District Defensive Player of the Year honors by posting a
.983 fielding percentage for the Jaguars. He recorded 83 putouts, 88
assists and 12 double plays at second base and was credited with just
three errors.
Easton is the official bat supplier of NJCAA baseball and has also
been awarding the top defensive player in each of the NJCAA baseball
divisions since 1992.
Softball
5/18/2007 - Kylee Anderson and Chelsea Scott were both named Honorable
Mention All-MWAC team members. Congratulations ladies!
5/18/2007 - Head Coach Jimmie Evans is off to good start this
recruiting season. The Lady Jaguars have several new team members
who have recently signed National Letters of Intent. These signings can
me found on the Softball page.
5/11/07 - The Lady Jaguars were defeated 8-0 by Parkland in the opening
round of the Region Tournament. They then faced Shawnee later in
the day and dropped a close game 1-0 to the Saints, ending the season
for DACC. First year Head Coach Jimmie Evans and the Lady Jaguars
showed steady improvement and determination all season long to finished
the season 14-25.
Women's Basketball
2/28/07 - The Lady Jaguars season came to an end after losing to
Lincoln Land 89-74 in the Region XXIV Tournament. DACC was led in
scoring by Witney Todd and Kendra Donley with 12 points each. The
Lady Jaguars finished the season 17-12.
Men's Basketball
2/27/07 - The Jaguars broke 3 school records this season while earning
a 14-17 record. Freshman Anthony Lee Ingram broke a school record
hitting 8-8 from three point range. Another freshman, Marcus
Thomas, broke two school records - most 3's made in a season - 79, and
highest 3 point Field Goal Percentage, 47.8. The Jaguars as a
team finished 3rd in the Nation in 3 point Field Goal shooting at 41.1%.
