REGISTRATION STEPS

The checklists below are separated into 4 categories:
New Students | Transfer In Students | Returning Students | International Students

Find the category that you fit and use the checklist to assist you as you prepare to register for classes. If you have any questions, please call the Admissions Office at 217-443-8800 or email us at admissions@dacc.edu. We are here to help!

NEW STUDENTS
(for students who have not previously attended DACC or another college)

  1. Complete a Student Information Form which can be found in the Admissions Office (VH, Room 109) or on our website. Student Information Form Link
  2. Submit official transcripts from previous schools (high school/GED/college/military) to our Records Office (Vermilion Hall, Room 109).
  3. Schedule your Placement Assessments and New Student Orientation. Visit or call the Assessment Center (Cannon Hall, Room 103), 217-443-8708.
  • Assessments must be completed before you register for most classes.
  • ACT & SAT scores can be used for course placement. They are good for 2 years.
  • Special Note: Many Allied Health programs require math scores or credit to be taken/earned within 5 years of the start date of the major-specific coursework.
  • Some assessments can be completed off campus at pre-approved testing centers. Call the Assessment center for more information.
  1. For information about Financial Aid, you can stop by the Financial Aid office in Vermilion Hall, Room 110, or call 217-443-8891.
  2. Contact Academic Advisement & Counseling to obtain appointment and walk-in hours for enrolling in classes. The office is located in Lincoln Hall, Room 104, or call 217-443-8750.
  • Students also have the option of registering online. For more information on online registration, visit the Jaguar Spot. Instructions for online services are provided on these web pages.

TRANSFER IN STUDENTS (for students who have attended another college)

  • Complete a Student Information Form which can be found in the Admissions Office (VH, Room 109) or on our website. Student Information Form Link
  • Submit official transcripts from previous schools (high school/GED/college/military) to our Records Office (Vermilion Hall, Room 109).

RETURNING STUDENTS
(Students who have not attended DACC for over a year or more)

  1. Check in with the Admissions Office to update your Student Information Form (i.e., address, phone, email, previous colleges attended). Student Information Form Link
  2. Submit official transcripts from previous schools (if any were attended since last enrollment).
  3. Schedule placement assessment (if necessary). Assessment Center (Cannon Hall, 217-443-8708). Please note some assessments can be completed at a pre-approved testing center.
  • Why would it be necessary? If you did not complete a math or English in previous semesters or at another college. OR If you will be pursuing an Allied Health program such as Nursing (LPN/RN) or Radiologic Technology which require math scores/completion within 5 years of start of major-specific courses.
  1. Contact the Financial Aid office to start the process for financial aid/student loans. Visit the Financial Aid office in Vermilion Hall, Room 110, or call 217-443-8891.
  2. Contact Academic Advisement & Counseling to obtain appointment and walk-in hours for enrolling in classes. The office is located in Lincoln Hall, Room 104, or call 217-443-8750.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
(Students who need an I-20 form/Student Visa to be issued to them)

  1. Complete the Pre-Application for International Students. Pre Application Link
  • Submit official transcripts from previously attended high schools/colleges and TOEFL scores.
  • Courses taken and degrees completed outside of the United States should be evaluated by a non-profit, credential services organization. They will evaluate your credits and equate them to courses and degrees in the United States. Once the evaluation is complete, you can use it for multiple colleges/universities.
  • Submit official bank records and letters of financial support.
  1. Based upon acceptance of Pre-Application and issuance of I-20 document, schedule your Placement Assessments and New Student Orientation.
  • ACT & SAT scores are valid for two years.
  • Special Note: Many Allied Health programs require math scores or credit to be taken/earned within 5 years of the start date of the major-specific coursework.
  • If you’ve taken college-level English and/or math courses, please make sure your transcripts are sent to DACC. You may not need additional placement testing.
  1. Contact Academic Advisement & Counseling to obtain appointment and walk-in hours for enrolling in classes. The office is located in Lincoln Hall, Room 104, or call 217-443-8750.

  1. Check in with an International School Official to fulfill student visa requirements.
