About DACC

At Danville Area Community College, we take our mission very seriously, and our mission is to serve you.

Being recognized with four national teaching excellence awards within six years, the faculty at DACC design rigorous coursework that meets the highest standards. Students who transfer from DACC to a four-year university usually do as well as, if not better than, those who began at that school.

Students involved with the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at DACC have won multiple awards for scholarship and community service. Alumnus Jacob Lane was recognized as one of the top college students in the country by USA Today while completing his studies at DACC.

Community colleges, DACC in particular, are especially responsive to economic and societal changes. DACC quickly adapts instructional offerings to meet the changing economic needs of the community. The College offers more than 100 career and transfer programs for credit within three academic divisions, Math and Science; Liberal Arts; and Business and Technology. The College has partnerships with four-year universities that bring courses to campus, or offer degree-completion programs online, so students can complete advanced degrees without leaving the community.

The Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and administration work to maintain a low tuition rate so college remains affordable and accessible. For those who need financial assistance, the Financial Aid staff and DACC Foundation work overtime to insure resources are available to students. Courses are offered online, in the evening, and at various locations around the district in an effort to maintain accessibility for the community.

The Student Success Center provides support and educational tools for students with physical, learning, and economic barriers to higher education. The Center serves anyone from first generation college students to those who simply need to improve their study skills and habits.

The College has introduced programs to assist returning military veterans in overcoming barriers to employment and integration into the non-military world. The Veterans’ Multipurpose Employment Center is located in the Career and Employment Services Center at the College.

Learning opportunities stretch from preschool to the golden years at DACC. The Child Development Center is open to children as young as fifteen months. College for Kids offers summer enrichment to students in elementary and middle school. The Career Lab brings career exploration opportunities to junior high students, and there are several dual credit programs for high school students. There is a special tuition rate for senior citizens.

Developmental Education courses are designed to help students remediate needed skills to enter the college-level curriculum. The areas of emphasis in Developmental Education are focused towards math; basic English grammar and composition; and reading, vocabulary, and study skills. Adult Education conducts GED and Basic Education courses for high school completion, and English as a Second Language to improve skills for non-native speakers. The Certified Nurse Assistant program offers low-cost, short-term health care training leading to a high demand career.

Finally, Corporate and Community Education offers customized corporate training services and non-credit courses for community members who are seeking new knowledge, experiences, and skills in non-academic areas.

Our Mission Statement reflects the role that DACC strives to play as an integral part of the community. The College exists to make endless possibilities available to you.
