Transfer Admission Requirements

  1. 2.0 Grade Point Average (4.0 scale)
NOTES
  1. Speech Communication majors may specialize in one of the following areas:  Persuasive Communication, Performance Studies, Public Relations, Organizational Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Intercultural Communication.
  2. Students interested in the College of Liberal Arts are recommended but not required to take one year of a foreign language.
  3. Electives should be in the areas of drama, music, film, psychology, sociology, and literature.
  4. DACC recommends a three (3) hour course in Third World or Non-Western Culture, either in Humanities or Social Science.
  5. Effective Fall 1992, new students or re-entering students absent more than two years and seeking an A.S.A. degree are required to take at least one course with human relations content.  See your counselor for list of courses that fulfill this requirement.
  6. SIU's College of LAS requires foreign language at the second semester college level.  This is equivalent to two years of one foreign language in high school, but SIU requires that a proficiency test be passed if two semesters are not completed at the college level.
