Transfer Admission Requirements

  1. 2.50 Grade Point Average (4.0 scale), 2.80 GPA is required for Art Education and Art Therapy.
  2. All Art Courses must be grades of C or better.
  3. Successful portfolio review.  Students should keep all art work to assemble their portfolio.  For more information regarding the portfolio requirements access www.orat.ilstu.edu/art/.  Art History majors submit a Statement of Interest in lieu of a portfolio.
  4. Graphic Design Majors will need to complete ART 226 (Graphic Design I) at Illinois State prior to being admitted to the program.  DACC does not offer an equivalent course to ISU's ART 226.
NOTES
  1. A minimum grade of B is required for Art History majors in ARTS 111 and ARTS 112 (Art History I and Art History II).
  2. ISU has a non-western course completion for all graduates.  DACC offers HIST 121, 122, 141, 142 or POLI 240 in social science area.  LITR 104, 111; MUSI 126; PHIL 104 are offered in Humanities area.
  3. Completion of Foreign Language Level III (103) is required regardless of high school foreign language completed. French or German is highly recommended, but is required for Art History.
  4. Art Education majors should take POLI 150 (American Government), Art History Majors should take HIST 111 (Western Civilization I).
  5. Art Education majors must also take EDUC 211 (Educational Psychology), and complete the ETS Basic Skills exam in reading, writing, and mathematics at ISU prior to transferring.
  6. ISU has initiated new graduation requirements effective Fall, 1999 for first-time or readmitted students. They now require two additional classes that are in addition to general education requirements. POLI 160, GEOG 134, or ANTH 107 will fulfill one of these requirements. A student can then take a general elective to meet A.S.A. degree and fulfill the second requirement at ISU, where there are more choices from which to select.
